Happy moment of the morning:

Discovering that my idea of throwing an overripened banana in with my rock-hard avocados was spot-on, and I am now eating delicious guacamole as a result.

Sad moment of the morning:

Discovering that my two favorite cutesy skeleton cups that I picked up from Meijer's around Halloween are of the kind of plastic that is supposed to be banned now (the kind with BPA in it).

Worrisome moment of the morning:

I bought that second cup THREE MONTHS AGO. I thought they'd started to pull BPA plastics from the shelves long before THAT.

REALLY worrisome moment of the morning:

They were kids' sippy cups. I wonder how many parents bought their kids the cheap plastic novelty crap without looking at what it was made of. :/ No wonder childhood cancers (and ALL cancers, really) are rising.

Annoying moment of the morning:

I have to go through all my plastics, dispose of them properly, and try to find healthy alternatives, particularly since my sister doesn't listen to me when I say UM HELLO GENIUS QUIT MICROWAVING THE NUMBER 5 PLASTICS AS THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR MICROWAVING.

Although...hm. Me throwing them in the dishwasher probably isn't any better D:

Does anyone know which plastics are particularly bad when it comes to leaching? (Aside from 1 and 7, that is...I already know all about those :/)

EDIT: Forgot to add this...I am SO glad I don't have to worry about ever raising a kid in this shit (all the literature I'm finding online about plastics leaching mentions baby bottles and transmitting plastic compounds through breast milk an awful lot). The world is fucking scary now, with all the lobbyists and lies being spread to us. I wonder how many people have to die in the name of consumerism before we finally fight back.

health, environmentalism, consumerism, household, wtf
