Further Down the Pumpkin Patch

Oct 22, 2011 03:19

At dawn, the jack o' lanterns come alive.

Cries of fear and pain echo throughout the barracks as any pumpkin that had been removed from its stake abruptly wakes and dies. Pumpkin-pulp gore spills from their eyes, mouths, and the hole in their bases left by the stakes, until they are nothing but shrunken husks.

From this point onward, any pumpkin removed from its stake will suffer the same fate.

And now, the pumpkins begin to speak. They whisper secrets, threats and rebukes. They plead and cry; they beg for mercy, for freedom. There is no hall or passageway throughout the Keep that is free from their whimpers, their whispers.

A guest will stop hearing these voices only if their own pumpkin is removed from its stake.
