"Zack?" Cloud said in his best fake curious tone. In truth he was annoyed beyond belief. He was simply trying to eat his breakfast in a reasonable manner. But as always, any time he was around Zack any thoughts of things being reasonable went directly out the window.
"Huh?" Zack answered back, barely managing to get the word out around the huge amount of cereal that was currently stuffed into his mouth.
"What are you doing?" Cloud said trying his hardest to not let out one of the long suffering sighs he had become known for.
"I'm looking for the spoon."
"Um Zack, not to sound stupid, but what would a spoon be doing in the cereal box?" Cloud asked, wondering what kind of ridiculous idea Zack had come up with that had left a spoon in the box of cereal.
"No! The spoon that's supposed to come with it! It's supposed to have honey bees on top!" Zack exclaimed.
"So that's why you're digging your grubby little paws in my favorite cereal?"
"Uh huh." Zack shook his head before realizing that he had just been insulted. "Hey! My hands are not grubby!"
"Whatever you say Zack."
"I'm telling you, my hands are not grubby. I just want the spoon."
"And why would that be?"
"Because it's really cute?" Zack said as a huge smile graced his handsome features.
"Try again." Cloud said with a knowing smirk.
"Okay! Alright! I just want it before someone else finds it!"
"So.... You're just being greedy?"
"No!" Zack said, pulling his hand out said cereal box quickly, causing a large amount of said cereal to go flying over the table and onto the floor.
"That's what it sounds like to me."
"Oh whatever," Zack answered, pout already forming on his face.
"What?"
"What do you mean what?"
"I mean, what's with the pouty face?"
"Well, first you insult me! And then you call me greedy! You should be ashamed of yourself!" Zack said slowly, gaining speed and volume so the last few words came out as a shout.
"Oh for the love of chocobos in spandex!" Cloud said, throwing his hands up in the air, his breakfast forgotten. He knew he had a much bigger problem on his hands. A pouty Zack could become a sullen, sulky, unbearable Zack in a matter of seconds.
"What? You did!" Zack crossed his arms over his chest, and stared Cloud right in the eye while he features fell into his famous puppy dog look.
"Oh no! You're not even going to pull that one on me!"
"What?"
"That 'Oh woe is me! I'm such a sad, abused, pathetic puppy dog' look! No way in hell!" Cloud said as he to crossed his arms over his chest.
"Oh whatever!" Zack said for the second time that morning. Okay, so maybe he was being a tiny bit greedy, wanting to get to the spoon before Cloud. He knew good and well that once he had the tiny spoon in his possession it would probably be lost in the confines of his bedroom never to see the light of day again, but that didn't make him want it any less.
"Okay, so maybe you're right."
"Excuse me?"
"I said, 'Okay, maybe you're right"?
"About what?"
"About Materia being made out of rocks! About the spoon you mindless twit!" Zack said, already annoyed by the fact that Cloud seemed to have the memory of a gold fish.
"Hey!"
"Well! You're the one who suddenly has no idea what I'm talking about!"
"Oh whatever," Cloud said, falling back on what seemed to be Zack's answer for everything.
"Anyway, you were right."
"On which point?"
"On the point that I just wanted the spoon because I'm greedy."
"Oh, I already knew that. I was thinking maybe you were going to admit to having grubby hands." Cloud laughed at the low growl that sounded in Zack's throat, and knew he had hit the nail on the head. Alright, he decided, maybe it wasn't so bad having Zack around to interrupt his breakfast after all.
