Got myself a bow last Sunday, along with a dozen arrows to shoot.
The bow I got is an
Impala take-down recurve bow, set to draw at 50lb.
And I am in love with this thing.
As I like to put it, it crosses the boundary between shooting at the target and shooting into the target.
Lyn insists that I give my bow a name, as she insists on all inanimate objects having one. For instance, my car's is named "Dusty", because I never wash it. I'm thinking of nicknaming it "Jack" for the reason that last Sunday we played a game of "archery poker", and I won the last hand of it by getting four of a kind with all the jacks.
Also got my first set of arrows with adder-points for hunting small game.
All that is left to attain is an appropriate set of clothing, and a license for which to hunt.
No tags or stickers are required for game that are classified as pests/rodents (possum, squirrel, rabbit, etc).
There is still much in the way of hunting education I must explore, but I think I will be ready to hunt next spring.
