There's a lot to be done in just 10 days.
We had our first exam in ME172 (my summer class) last Tuesday. There were four problems; I wasn't pleased with how the first problem turned out, but the other three were good and well. Aiming for about +80%. The professor's timing was fairly bad though, as he'd assigned homework from the next 3 chapters after the test material, so there's a tug-o-war between studying earlier material for the test and studying new material to complete the homework. The overall homework grade counts for as much as the midterm, so there'd be no way of cutting losses.
I've also been following the world cup a bit lately. Usually I'm not one for sports, but having played a lot of soccer in my youth I cannot help but find it enjoyable. Where did that all go?
Ah, right...assholes in grade school, I recall now.
Anyways, the other morning I came in to the USA vs. Algeria match in the 80th minute, but man was it the right time to come in.
USA was playing very respectfully; all their slide-tackles were clean, they refrained from grabbing rival players, and took yet another poor referee call (on another goal, no less) in stride.
Algeria played poorly and disrespectfully; stepping in onto the ankles of rival players, holding them by the arms during important kicks, and even outright punching them in the face.
But America came through in the end and scored the winning goal in the 91st minute, which was extra time granted due to time lag accumulated from foul calls, setting up shots, and waiting for throw-ins.
Taiji also got into town on Saturday night!
We hit up streets of london and had a pretty good time. I myself have quite a hankering for karaoke, so hopefully we can get out to one of those while Tai is around town. And hopefully a game of C&C Generals too, for old time's sake.
Man, that game came out while I was in high school...
Oscar Reyes is also trying to get me setup with a job as a shipping clerk at the scuba store he works at. In addition, he's also proposed the idea of getting an apartment somewhere in midtown. Only thing I see being really tricky is finding a place that meets the criteria while also allowing pets. Even then I'm not sure how I'd feel about bringing Stubbs and Chester to an area that's more urban. I'm not sure how well they'd deal with feral cats, transients, and even people in general. I may have to deliberate on this matter quite a bit.
Lots to do.
Need to get a Kaplan guide to start studying for the EIT.
Need to get my Fall semester straightened out.
Need to pull teeth at CSUS admissions office about my records from SCC.
Need to work and make some money.
Need to start thinking about my senior project.
Need to think about what to do afterwards.
Need to practice my guitar more.
Need to practice my martial arts.
Need to get out!
