The drive out to Santa Rosa was not bad, and it was in fact quite scenic. Luis has a nice little apartment out here with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with the spare bedroom being used for his electronics materials as well as his computer. Upon arriving we unloaded the goods from my car (I brought my PC so we could LAN some games, and so I could make my one post per day) and set out to the local market. We went to Best Buy where I used my gift card to order a new headset online, and Luis got himself a second Xbox 360 controller. After that we had dinner at Applebee's and talked about gaming, and resolutions. Next up was Target so that he could get lighting for his computer room, and then BevMo! for getting the drinks for the night. We also picked up a two-pack of extra strength 5 hour energy, and oh my do that work fabulously. I think we were up until nearly 5:00 A.M. after drinking them at 7:00 P.M.
We didn't watch the ball drop or anything, as we were too busy LANning older PC games. In particular we played Commandos 2, which is extremely fun as a multiplayer game, and I hope in the furure to play a game of it with Luis, Tai, and myself. The fact we missed the new year's ball (didn't realize it until it was 11:45 P.M.) did not affect my by any means, and the New Year doesn't start here until it's 12:00 A.M. PST anyways. It was amusing when we stepped out on the porch to count-down; the neighbors upstairs were yelling the numbers out, and everywhere in the distance you could hear hooting, hollaring, fireworks, and one car making its horn drone repeatedly. "How can we be sure our count-down was accurate?" To which the car honks its horn for a full minute.
We had a lot of beer, and it was all delicious.
One of Luis' resolutions is to beat any game he plays, and to only play two games at a time. Up to then, I'd periodically mentioned X-Com, how much fun I've had with it, and that he would surely like it. He was slightly apprehensive about it, as I'm sure he had many other different games nominated to play in his mind.
I showed him the game.
He played it from 10:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M.
The aliens must have psychically mind-controlled him.
So I'm not sure what we're going to be up to today. Not to sound like a mooch, but I'd asked Luis what his food supplies were like here because I myself cannot afford to go out two to three times a day to eat for each day I am here. He said he had food; the only thing in that fridge is alcohol, and water. Which isn't bad either, but I would like to eat, and he said there would be food.
RIGHT, resolutions, almost forgot about that.
I have to think some more through, I think, as I didn't exactly prepare anything officially.
One I wish to do for certain, is to run at least three times a week. It's not as much as I used to run obviously, but I need to work up to doing that. I think my other resolutions will mostly be fixated upon school, playing guitar, and money-related issues.
Man, money is such a tight leash.
