(I liked your idea, Kristin!)
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. You are all tagged.
"Au lieu de faire sa correspondance comme elle l'avait annonce au docteur Gerard, Sarah King s'assit devant sa table de toilette, brossa ses cheveux en arriere de son front, regarda dans la glace ses yeux troubles et fit l'inventaire de sa jeune existence. Elle venait de traverser une crise sentimentale aigue."
--Agatha Christie's Rendez-vous avec la mort
sorry that's not super interesting for non-francophiles...
and now...
2006 YEAR in REVIEW: (first line from first entry of every month)
JANUARY: When the countdown reaches zero, I always wonder what the year will bring... I never have a clue, and I love it like that.
FEBRUARY: Do you ever feel like you're surrounded by people with amazing talent and passion, or at least the latter, and disappointedly see nothing of the sort in yourself?
MARCH: Hi. FANTASIA IS THIS FRIDAY!!!
APRIL: All right, so now I'm FOR SURE done with my senior art show.
MAY: 2 things I don't care for:
1. End-of-the-year crushes, especially on someone out of your league
2. Thinking about leaving great people in just a matter of days...
JUNE: Sooo, the Job is going well--- so far, (fingers crossed) I'm enjoying it more and more with the more responsibility I get.... responsibility, aka POWER! (I got to show an apt. to my first client today!)
JULY: As my depleted bank account might indicate, The game is on, France! Round 2... and it is *officially* official that I will once again be making camp in your territory. indefinitely.
AUGUST: I am really going to miss this place. Michigan. Lake Michigan. liberal, diverse, artsy, humid, lively Ann Arbor.
SEPTEMBER: My time here working at the apartment community is drawing to a close... It figures my last day here is a Sunday, and I'm working alone.
OCTOBER: In brief, I'm alive and well, and in France again after a two year hiatus!
NOVEMBER: On the night of November 23rd at 8 pm, in a little French provincial mountain town, the American tradition of Thanksgiving was celebrated.
DECEMBER: My life is pretty darn easy here, but regardless I found something to be annoyed about. ...myself.
Man... way to end out an otherwise pretty interesting year, Debbie Downer!! (I'm still dealing with that December issue though--I basically just need to get myself out more, which shouldn't be too hard since it's spring and the end of my stay is in sight.) What will this year-in-review look like another year from now? That's some question. I know for one that I sure as heck will have some trouble getting back into the real work world, after this big fat weekend I've spent in France for half a year. Speaking of, I just got back from Spring Break Number 1, which was two weeks long, and paid. Spring Break Number 2 is next, also two weeks long, and paid, and in only a month. Yep, it will be hard to reintegrate myself into American work weeks again, but man... I think I should be ready after seven months of R&R. I guess 20-somethings just aren't fit for retirement.
