I went to Derby today.
HATE IT.
I'm a Nottingham girl, I don't do Derby. If I were a football fan it'd be the rival town, but I'm not, I'm just a snob. By the time I'd found my way through the town centre, to a back street car park, gotten a ticket from an alien machine, (I mean, really, it was so bizarre. I had to read the instructions in order to operate it.) Ah, where was I..? Oh yeah, after I'd parked & paid, the howling gales of Derby blew my head off. It was chilly and windy. I bet Nottingham would have been sunny and calm. Hmph... Anyway, getting in to Derby wasn't that bad. Getting out however, was another matter.
It took me an hour and a half to get home.
Firstly, I got stuck in an ENORMOUS queue due to a lane being closed. Then after a while I saw a sign that said Spondon next left. So I took the next left. No Spondon. Instead I was somewhere near Shardlow, which led me into Leicestershire, which led me to Donington.
Luckily, I recognised the Donington roundabout from when I drove to Download a few weeks ago, so I took the road to Long Eaton. Got a tad lost around there for 20 minutes or so, followed signs to Sandiacre, and there it was.
"Ilkeston"
I have never been so relieved to see a sign for that scummy pit of home in my life. Thank you Satan. *bows down to*
