A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to take my girls to the Sewing Expo where they got to see their first fashion show and do some crafty shopping with mommy. I can't begin to describe how cool of an event this was for me - Kristyn I think probably have an idea ;)
Anyway the fashion show was a little disappointment for them, I think they were thinking princess dresses and high fashion but instead got everyday wear. Still cool for mom ;)
But the shopping... boy did hey love the shopping - they liked the exhibits of quilts and other art on display including an exhibit on hollywood fashion. I let them pick out two patterns that we purchased for future projects (I had to limit to two though they wanted more!). It wasn't my plan to do this, I didn't even remember they had children's modern patterns... but they went right to the display and went crazy!
Currently I actually have three really cool projects - I'm making a prom dress for a daughter of a friend - but as soon as they are done I am really looking forward to making these for my girls. Luckily due to the patterns I think I'm going to be able to use up some of my stash and scrapes instead of buying more fabric. I can't wait to get started and look forward to see how involved they become.
Pics of the patterns
The Emma Dress which is actually a top and skirt that I think they will have fun mismatching and if it is as fun as I think I may modify later to expand the wardrobe and
The Nie Nie Skirt anyone that has spent anytime with Lexi knows that the girls likes to spin. In fact they both give Brad headaches in the morning if they test out whatever he picks out and it "doesn't spin."
Both look like fun and easy... of course I hope you realize I'm making two of each, they won't be satisfied until I do ;)
Even if they don't pick up my love for sewing and crafting I am so glad that I can still share my hobby with them and they have such enthusiasm!
