American Idol--I do not know if Lee technically sang well enough to win tonight... But overall, I think that he's much better in an emotional capacity than Krystal. Do they pick their singles, by the way? Or do the Idol people? Because I didn't feel that "Beautiful Day"--a song I don't like at all, personally--was a good match for him. I'm Team Lee all the way, though.
Glee. Frankly, the Rachel/mom thing should have been saved for the second season when they had more time and fewer huge plotlines. But their voices were gorgeous; it was nothing I didn't expect. She's not her mom; she's the woman who gave birth to her. Eh, I don't connect very much to Rachel, so... yeah. The Kurt storyline was sad, and cemented my TOTAL LOVE FOR BURT HUMMEL. FOUR FOR YOU, GLEN COCO! Burt has handled this excellently, in a way that I would hope most parents aspire to. Anyhow, Finn was realistic in his homophobia, so although I disagree, I don't hate him for it. It's an environmental thing. Now, as for OMG OH YEAH WE HAVE A PREGNANCY STORYLINE....
My opinion: now I really want Quinn to keep baby Beth. It's not so much a shipping thing... But I think that an adoption--in which we'd probably meet the adoptive parents, what, once?--would sweep the entire thing under the rug. Some questions were answered--apparently she is planning on adoption--but not enough. Does she actually have people lined up for the baby? Or is she, like, dumping the baby at an agency? (Sorry, but that's the way it sounds.) All of this points, to me, to either bad writing--in which Quinn pops the baby out and... randomly forgets it...--which, unfortunately, wouldn't shock me. (Most shows do it that way.) Or, hopefully, she'll keep the baby and we'll see some interesting storyline with that next season.
Me: Now I want her to keep it!!!
Mom: THAT'S NOT REALISTIC.
Me: ...
They burst into song in malls and hallways. That's not realistic.
In real life, adoption all the way. But TV NEVER handles it well. I... don't see the point of writing in a teen pregnancy if you're going to have the baby adopted out. Honestly. Because all of the TV!drama comes from fighting about the adoption, and Quinn and Puck have not been fighting about it. So? Keep baby Beth. By the way, best song of the night. I don't care whatchu say Rachel fans.
