Ok so I know what I am about to write will make me seem like a total nerd, but I don’t care I had the best afternoon ever. I met with my favorite teacher from high school at PJ’s. Ms. Charlene Johnson is without a doubt the classiest lady I have ever met. Even though her AP U.S. and European History classes kicked my ass, I needed that kick in the ass to help me get into college. She is no doubt the most intimidating woman ever I think it so cool that she is fond of me! Even though she has a son who has graduated from college she is still hella hot. With that in mind, I made sure to look presentable, because you cannot meet Ms. Johnson looking sloppy. She just accepted an administrative position at Bolton and cancelled her plans to travel around the world. She was supposed to live in Florence for two months! Hello, where have I been dying to run off to since last summer? Alexandria definitely does not deserve a woman as intelligent as her. But anyways she was telling me about the new principal at Bolton who I met just the other day. He expressed surprise he found out that I went to school in New York and she just laughed and said that I never belonged in Alexandria in the first place because I was too cosmopolitan for the South. It was so nice chatting with her over chai about everything from her plans for Bolton, college, Broadway shows, etc. I even told her about my recent foray into the world of cooking and now she wants recipes from my mom for some cooking competition w/ her old sorority sisters that Governor Blanco is coming to in the fall. Talking to Charlene Johnson about cooking is like getting golf lessons from Arnold Palmer…she’s a pro. She even has her own cookbook on display at the Smithsonian! But the most interesting tidbit I learned about good ole Charlene this afternoon is that one of her good friends has a plane and sometimes they Biloxi for dinner and turn around and come home, now that’s baller status. It was so nice to see her not only b/c I owe my passion for European history to her, but because she is probably the one teacher that I will stay in contact with for the rest of my life. She even made me swear (on multiple occasions) to invite her to my wedding b/c she wants to go to a big Indian wedding “before [she gets] too old to wear [her] low cut dresses.” Alas, we parted ways and she promised to send me a copy of the illustrious, sold-out on Amazon cookbook.
Also I watched the US vs. Trinidad and Tobago World Cup Qualifying match and they won 1-0. My boy Brian McBride scored in the second minutes. I felt really unpatriotic b/c I didn’t care as much I would during an England game. Speaking of England they really fucked up today in their friendly against Denmark and lost 4-1. They gave up 3 goals in 7 minutes. I didn’t actually catch the match b/c I couldn’t find anything besides the US game, but granted I am upset nonetheless. They better shape up before their qualifier against Wales.
