Happy Chrismahanukwanzakah!
As has been said repeatedly, this group is fantastic. Everyone is so incredibly generous. I plan on making some mix tapes, cd's, and maybe writing some letters and post cards. =D
Anyway, my name is Justin. I'm 20 years old and I live in Dallas, Texas. I'm in my second year of college and money is kind of tight this year. I dunno how many presents I'm going to be able to get people, but I'll do my best. I was thinking this year I might just maket things for people, instead of buying gifts. Heh. I have no idea what I'd make though. Anyway, I want to thank everyone for doing what they've done. You all do your best to make peoples' holidays so much better. The kindness of strangers is amazing. To be honest, I feel kinda... guilty asking strangers for anything. Heck, I usually feel bad when my friends go out of their way for me. I mean, I know there's people out there that deserve more than what I'm asking for. I'm hoping this feeling will be abided by me taking part in the gift giving. It usually does. =D
So, without further rambling on my part, here's the list!
1) Music! Sending cd's is a great idea, and I wouldn't have thought about it if I hadn't found this community. But, if anyone wants to send me a cd with their favorite music, that'd be amazing. I'm really into most rock, and I love techno/trance music. If anyone has a copy of Tool's new album 10,000 Days laying around, that'd be great. If anyone has any good local bands around where they live, I'd really be interested in hearing those. Also, any music from Canada is good in my books. (Barenaked Ladies < 3)
2) Post-cards and letters would be nice. I've been wanting for a while to have a pen-pal or something like that, so this seems like a good opportunity to maybe meet some people through the good, old-fashioned pen and paper style. =P
3) I love stand-up comedy. If anyone has any good recommendations, old DVD's, or cd's they don't want of any stand-up, I'd less-than-three you forever.
4) Any old video games you don't want. I've got an SNES, N64, GameCube, PS2, and a Gameboy Advance. I know it's a long shot, but I'd really like a copy of Earthbound on the SNES, or the PS2 version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (I know, I know. That one's near impossible to find.). But yeah, any other used and unwanted games are welcome here.
5) I have this weird thing for those gloves with the fingers cut off around midfinger. I'd really like a pair of those with a cool design, or a neat patch.
6) Season 4 of Scrubs on DVD. I absolutely love that show. Also, I love movies. If you have some movies you don't want anymore, send 'em to me. Unfortunately, I don't have a VCR, so DVD's are probably the best idea.
7) Books. Fantasy books, especially. I love fantasy, but I'm a lover of all books. If anyone has any old books they don't want, or if they could just reccomend some good authors, that'd be awesome. Also, if you can swing it, comic books would be amazing. I have no preference, I just love comics. (Okay, I lied. X-Men rock my socks.)
8) Any old sweaters or hoodies will be loved and taken care of by me. I love big, warm articles of clothing.
9) Help a friend out, or take someone out to lunch. Do something nice for someone you like. (Heck, maybe even for someone you don't like.) =D
10) Donate to charities, please. Doesn't matter what it is, just do what you can. A dollar in the Salvation Army bin, and your old clothes to Helpting Hands helps more than you might think.
