Why dog's sniff each other....

Long ago, in time before memory, All the dogs in the world attended an annual event. the world dog convention. Everydog who was anydog was there... From the tiny to the tall... From the Great to the small. There were Schnauzers and Great Danes, Poodles and Labradors, little chinesse wrinkly dogs and Irish setters... every breed imaginable and yes, there even were a few mixed breeds... what might be called *gasp* mutts.

Upon entering the convention hall, much like we humans do with our coats and give them to the coat check attendant, all the dogs unscrewed their butts and gave them to the butt-check dog. In return of course, they would receive a numbered tag to ensure that they got the correct butt back.

This convention's history went on for years and years... until one fateful year when it all collapsed :(

The Dalmation was, of course, the first one to notice it... the faint smell of smoke. Something had caught fire!

It was quickly discovered that the situation was serious and the convention center was about to be a total loss... it was PanDOGmonium... a real Dog eat Dog kind of situation.

All the dogs, in such a rush to exit the building with their lives intact, grabbed any old butt they could, without regards as to whether or not it was the correct butt

So nowadays, if you see a dog sniff another dog's butt... what he's really doing is checking to see whether the other dog is in possession of the sniffer dog's butt.

I told this to Diea and she was um... a bit wierded out.
