Plus, and I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think there will be any gay this series. Perhaps an examination of gender, but nothing outright homosexy. So, gen three has to work even harder to maintain my interest.
I agree. JB sort implied there may be gay, sort of, but I am skeptical. I would really, REALLY like to see a girl like Mini turn out to be gay -- her heterosexuality is SO over the top and apparently she's lying about sleeping with her boyfriend. Idk, it just makes me think ~repressed homo~, but I don't know if Skins writers (THIS group of writers, anyway) would be clever enough to come up with something like that.
And yes, a gay boy (or boys) would be nice too, because visibility is always good, but I sadly am not very interested in gay males. There's that whole ... male aspect about them. I might find them cute and even ship them, but I certainly wouldn't be scrambling to write fic, you know? I just don't care all that much. :\
Wicked excited for US S1 though ... I think it'll be great. People don't see this as the opportunity that it is -- bringing in a whole new slew of writers and just opening the door for all sorts of new stories and creativity and whatever.

but seriously, I firmly believe Franky is straight. I'm just fervently hope they won't place her in a relationship with Rich. I have a feeling Rich will still get a lot of pussy, in the same way as all of JB's fictional counterparts do (Cook I can understand but SID was somehow attractive to both Cassie and Michelle, so um....yeah, JB...living vicariously through your characters again I see).
Mini does ping for me, mostly because she's simultaneously this UBER feminie bitch and cracks lesbian jokes all the time. It does smack of insecurity. I'd love her to be bisexual but I doubt they'll go there. I think JB was appeasing the afterellen readership and because Heather Hogan is a rank amateur she never thought to press him further about his comments. Ah well.
Even though Matty is painfully pretentious right now, I'd still like to see male bisexuality represented. It's as if tv writers honestly believe it doesn't exist (much like goldstar lesbians are as common as unicorns!)
I watched Skins UK for the first time today and will post about it a little later. Suffice to say, you and I share a similar perspective on it.
