WHEN: Week 02, 'Whites of His Eyes' / Saturday, December 13th, 2008, 3:12 AM
WHERE: Hospital Wing
WHO: Lucern and Lou (private)
It was dark. The only real light to see anything was from the moon that reflected off the snow under his feet. Lucern waited quietly outside in it as he watched, knowing fully well of what went on inside the Wilde home. It did occur to him that his fiance, and cousin if she had been there, could have apparated from inside the house when she decided to leave. There was a small window that he could view the basement through, carefully so he was not spotted by either of them. It had only been Dira tonight, thankfully. One less that he would worried about being caught by, and one less that he had to lie to face to face. He never wanted to betray the trust of anyone, especially his bride-to-be, but this time a lesson needed to be taught.
Once Dira had met her quota of enjoyment to listen to the redhead's screams of agony for the evening and left, Lucern made his move. He apparated himself inside the home, near the door to the basement, with wand at the ready in case he quickly needed to cover his tracks. There was no sound, other than his own breath. He moved quietly towards the door and unlocked it without much of a fuss. He was halfway down the staircase in a flash. Almost too easy, he thought.
And there she was; the young Gryffindor whose life would change forever after this moment. Her family was practically destroyed at the hands of the Dark Lord. He had to be extremely careful tonight if decided to do this. She seemed fairly unconscious after what had been done to her, so that was a plus. Lucern finished his walk down the stairs and over to her; he did not so much look at her as he stared blankly at the wall around her. There had to be some magic keeping her there. He had to use his judgment about what Dira might have used. An unskilled, wandless, teenage Gryffindor probably meant a little more than nothing to her so he began with the more simple spells.
He smirked as the magic eventually disappeared under his scrutiny, and caught Louvika Hawkins once she collapsed into his arms. "You're lucky this time," he muttered and sighed with disappointment in himself but he continued. "I hope for your sake that you can make it out on your own." Lucern laid her carefully against the cold floor of the basement before he turned on her and headed quietly up the steps. He knew that Dira would not give up immediately once she realized that this girl might have had the chance to escape so he would have to keep an eye on her, but that was all he would do.
Lucern walked quietly through the household towards the front door boldly, and stopped. He thought one second and turned on his heels the next. His wand arm stretched out and called in his mind "Accio wand." It was not long before the wand came to him, and rested in the palm of his hand. From what he could remember, it was not Dira's father's wand, nor hers so he assumed it had to belong to the Gryffindor. He sighed once more and then left the manor, apparating his way back to Hogsmeade where he had to walk the rest of the way to Hogwarts.
Lucern replayed that memory in his head over and over again as he twisted the wand between his fingertips. Though he was slightly irritated still that he had saved this brat's life, risking betrayal to his lover, he felt he had to return what had been rightfully hers. He leaned against one of the beds, looking down at the redhead blankly. He had to shake off the feeling of a shadow floating over his head, or else he would have been found out immediately. That was something he could not allow. He would not be a disgrace to his family, or himself. It was a ridiculous decision, but at least Dira would be more likely to listen to him when he made a suggestion.
He placed the lost wand on the night-table next the Gryffindor's bed before he turned around to walk away.
