Hisoka hung around close to Chen. He had never been asked by someone to hang around Hogsmeade before... usually, when he took these trips, he went to see his adoptive parents, Terry and Jack, who lived on the other side of town away from all the shops. But Chen had really liked that Gryffindor girl and he looked really upset when he asked Hisoka to go to Hogsmeade with him, sooo... well. He hoped Terry and Jack wouldn't be hurt. He'd be seeing them next week on holiday anyway.
"Where would you like to go?" he asked timidly and submissively, smiling at this person who he might actually be able to call his friend. Friends did things like this together, didn't they? Hisoka didn't really know. He'd never had one.
"Do you have... do you have shopping you need to do for brother?" he asked, eyes big when he thought about the other Takurai who he wasn't so fond of-- he was loud, and sometimes mean, and he hung around that big blonde boy, Bacchus Donovan who always hit the Bludgers really hard at Hisoka during Qudditch.
Chen giggled a bit at Hisoka's question. He was so cute! Sometimes he just wanted to keep him in his pocket forever. Chen rubbed his hands together again before blowing warm breath onto them.
"Hmmm... I think I would like to buy a scarf for my mother, maybe. Twillfit and Tatting's first, then?"
Chen was about to grab both of Hisoka's hands in his own and skip away, until his brother was brought into the conversation. He felt his insides bunch up, and he furrowed his brow a bit. Oh yes, he was definitely still mad at Kazu. He didn't know how long this anger was going to last, but for now, he didn't even want to think about him.
"Oh no, I wouldn't want to waste my time on him," Chen replied. "He's not even worth it, the git."
The words came out of his mouth before he really thought about them, but he meant them. Ugh, that idiot Kazu.
"But let's go, Hi-chan! I think the scarfs might be on sale, actually..." Chen continued, smiling brightly at his shopping companion.
Sensing that his friend (he liked that word) was upset at the mention of his brother, Hisoka's face creased with a frown. He reached out and took Chen's hands, with a small pout.
"Senpai," he said, sweetly following along to Twillfit and Tatting's obediently. "Why are you mad at onii-chan?" he asked, curiously. If Chen was upset, he wanted to make sure that Kazu hadn't been too mean to him. "What did he say to you?" he asked, with big, doleful eyes, gripping Chen's hands closely and trying to keep them warm.
He would also like to buy some scarves... maybe that's what he'd get Terry and Jack for Christmas! That was what he usually got them and they always seemed to like them, so why not?
Chen smiled at Hisoka's concern (and at the fact that he took his hands). He gripped his friend's hand in response and laughed a bit.
"Oh, he's just being his stupid self," Chen sighed. "It's all his fault that Lou's gone, anyway. And then he tries to be this chivalrous jerk and--"
After rambling for a bit, he shook his head. What was he doing!? Good lord, he left the castle to get away from all of this. To be honest, he wanted nothing more than to do some intense scarf shopping with Hisoka.
"Oh, it's nothing, Hi-chan," he laughed. "As long as he doesn't say anything stupid to you I'll be fine."
Chen smiled at Hisoka again before tugging on his hands a bit, leading him to the chic store, Twillfit and Tatting's. His mother always wanted a pretty scarf, but Chen never had the chance to get her anything, so now was his chance!
He would probably end up spending a lot of money here, but that wasn't too bad, right?
Hisoka frowned. Lou. That was the Gryffindor girl who had gone missing. But she was back, wasn't she? He'd seen her Thursday-- he'd had to take a very sick housemate to the infirmary and she'd been there. He'd seen her, sleeping behind the curtains. And those two Quidditch players-- the Chaser and the blonde had been there. He'd seen them both! Caught a brief glimpse behind the curtains.
"Lou-san," he said, using the affectionate name for the girl that Chen had used because he didn't know what else to call her. Chen probably wouldn't like it if he called her 'Hawkins' like most of the rest of his house did. "She is back," he said, looking confused and gripping Chen's hands tightly.
"She was in infirmary with two Gryffindors. I saw," he added, nodding his head.
"Blonde Gryffindor... Donovan-senpai. And Frazer-senpai. She was sleeping in a bed, all patched up and things. And... and I looked over at them, and Donovan-senpai glared at me and shut the curtains," he said, his cheeks flushing in embarassment.
Chen's eyes lit up when he heard the news. She was back!? And he hadn't heard about it yet? Well, he knew what he was going to do when he got back to the castle, all right. Lou deserved a visit, most definitely!
"Oh, right... Bacchus and Frazer. That would make sense," Chen said softly, not even surprised. "Lou probably wants to see them the most..."
Perhaps he should wait, then, until her family got to see her first? But he'd been so worried about her... Ah, he would think on it later, he supposed.
"He glared at you?" Chen asked, a bit of concern rising in his voice. "Hm. That certainly sounds like Bacchus. What a jerk, huh? Let's not think about it, shall we? After all, we're in Hogsmeade!"
He tried to shove all his other thoughts away-- about Kazu, and Lou, and Bacchus, and even Frazer... And he was almost successful, except that he still wanted to see Lou.
"Are you sure you're warm enough, Hi-chan?" Chen began, putting his hand against his friend's cheek. "Let's go inside where it's warm, 'kay?"
Donovan-senpai was a jerk! He was always so mean to Hisoka, and Hisoka never even knew what he did! He found out eventually it was because he was a Slytherin, which just seemed so unfair back when he was younger and not on the Quidditch team. Now, maybe it was a little justified since they played against one another. But it still hurt Hisoka's feelings.
"Do you want to go see Lou-san?" Hisoka asked Chen, sweetly. He knew they were friends, and Chen had seemed so sad when he thought she was still gone. But he did seem very intent right now on the scarf shop. He paused when Chen put his fingers to his face.
"I am fine, senpai-- it's you who look cold! Come, we shall go in, yes?" he asked, tugging on Chen's hands again and leading him into the shop which was filled with a myriad of colors of not only scarves, but many other styles of clothing. They were clearly putting out their best for the holidays.
Ugh, that Bacchus Donovan. He was such a pompous ass sometimes. Chen tried not to think about him too much (only because it usually ended up with a lot of blushing), so he shoved the boy out of his mind. Instead, his eyes averted back to Hisoka-- who had asked him if he wanted to see Lou. Which he did, but...
"Yes, but maybe I'll wait... Don't want Bacchus to glare at me when I try to see her..." Chen sighed. "But, yes, let's hurry inside! I'm freezing!"
Chen let himself be led by Hisoka into Twillfit and Tatting's, and he smiled at the decor of the shop. Everything was so... Christmas-y! He loved it! His eyes grew wide at the plethora of scarves, coats, and shoes that lined the window.
And they were all at reasonable prices! Chen could have sang out of sheer happiness.
"Oh god... Where do we start, Hi-chan?" Chen giggled excitedly. "Coats? Scarves? Or... OHMIGOSH. Look at those fabulous pinstripe pants!"
Hisoka couldn't help but ask-- Chen had looked so happy to know that she was alive, it made Hisoka's heart glow with pleasure. If he had wanted to see her, Hisoka wouldn't mind if he left and went right back up to the castle. She was probably a better friend to him than he was, afterall
( ... )
Chen giggled and looked over at Hisoka's cute face resting on his shoulder. The boy was always thinking about Terry and Jack, it was adorable! Chen almost felt guilty, seeing as he hardly thought that much about his parents. He flashed a beaming smile before turning back to the fabrics
( ... )
Hisoka blanched at the zebra vest. Yuuuck! He shook his head and grabbed it, putting it back on the rack, but keeping the pinstripes.
"No, no, you need to try these on!" he demanded, waving the pants around dramatically. "These are for you-- 'neoki'?" he paused, putting on a mock-pout. "I am not neoki!" he said, fluttering his long eyelashes in his mock-sadness.
Honestly, you call someone your best friend and they return with, 'you who look like you just woke up'! Although it was kind of a cute name.
"You must try these on now that you have insulted me," he teased, pushing the pinstriped pants into Chen's arms.
Ohhh, the zebra-print wasn't THAT bad! It was just... extremely creepy. But maybe it would look good with an outrageously strange tie?
Now Chen was rather curious...
"Aww, but 'neoki' is such a cute name, Hi-chan!" Chen replied, smiling deviously. He took the pinstripe pants that were thrust into his arms and giggled a bit.
"Oh, all right! I'll try these on..." he declared. Then he added in a bit of a teasy voice, "...neoki!"
Snickering, Chen skedaddled into the dressing room, quickly throwing on the outrageous pants. He didn't mind them, actually, and they made his legs look longer than they actually were. When he was finished dressing himself, he jumped out of the room and modeled the pants for Hisoka.
"Ta-dah!" laughed Chen. "I think these are great pants. I might have to wear them... always."
He glanced at his rear cautiously. "My butt doesn't stick out too badly, does it?" He felt ashamed of asking this, but it was an honest question!
Hisoka clapped his hands together when Chen emerged from the dressing room in the striped pants. They did make his legs look nice! He wished his own weren't so short and stubby, then maybe the pants magic would've worked on him, too! But alas.
"No, your butt looks fine," he said, giggling and turning his head a little to get a better perspective on it, too. It really did look fine, he thought. The pinstripes made it look very symmetrical. Not that Chen didn't have a symmetrical butt.
"You need to buy those," he informed Chen.
"And... we also need to find gifts," he giggled, hoping Chen hadn't forgotten their purpose for coming here.
Chen giggled. He wondered why not everyone wanted to do this on a daily basis. Shopping had to be good for your soul! Chen always had so much energy when he was shopping.
Enough energy, even, to consider forcing Hisoka into a zebra-print vest!
"Oh, right!" Chen snorted, remembering that the two of them were there for a purpose. It was a good thing Hisoka was with him, or else Chen would've spent loads of money on himself. He was an obsessive shopper. Quickly, so he didn't hinder the shopping spree, Chen hopped back into the dressing room and changed back into his other jeans, slinging the pinstriped ones over his shoulder.
"Colors? Hmm, well she likes red and yellow and white. Nothing too interesting, I'm afraid. She's not even a fan of prints..." Chen sighed, putting a finger on his chin. "I should be able to find something fine..."
Chen turned to Hisoka. "And what about Terry? What does she prefer?"
"Terry likes purple," Hisoka informed Chen politely once he was back in his jeans. "And green. But not together!" he said, quickly, waving his hands and shaking his head. Some days she would wear purple robes, some days she would wear green robes, but she never mixed and matched the colors, he had always noticed. He didn't blame her, he didn't think they would look good together, either.
"Here, if she does not like print," he said, handing Chen a chenille scarf that was yellow.
"This is nice, yes? Rub it against your face, Shinyuu," he said, doing so for Chen, touching the soft fabric to Chen's soft cheek and smiling.
"She will like this, yes? Does she live in Japan?"
"Oooh, purple!" Chen said happily, bouncing a little on his feet. "Good thing, because purple comes in so many shades! And green too! Oh, we're bound to find something perfect for her!"
He was about to scan the shop for something that Hisoka could get for Terry, but the soft fabric against his cheek almost made him... purr?
"Ahhh, that's so soft!" Chen marveled, letting his cheek get enveloped by the chenille scarf. "Oh, this'll be perfect!"
He shook his head politely at Hisoka's question. "No... My father tried to convince her to live there, but she couldn't do it. So now our main house is in London."
Chen wasn't too sad about this, anyway. As long as he was with his family, then it didn't really matter. He knew that Kazu loved Japan, but even he would rather stay in England with all of their friends and close family.
"I haven't been there a lot myself, actually," he continued, furrowing his brow in thought. "Maybe a couple times for family reunion things, but that's it... Have you been there a lot, neoki?"
"Where would you like to go?" he asked timidly and submissively, smiling at this person who he might actually be able to call his friend. Friends did things like this together, didn't they? Hisoka didn't really know. He'd never had one.
