44 Blueberry Hill, Wednesday morning

There was a large crack in the living room ceiling, and this would not do. Cole certainly did not want the possibility of any plaster falling and hitting Phoebe, so he was determined to fix it this morning. Thus he was armed with paint, brush, plaster, trowel, drywall, hammer, nails, and a drywall lift. He did construction back in high school,

Callisto, in her normal leather, paused to watch Cole go back and forth to fetch tools.

Cole caught sight of her as he came out for a fresh piece of drywall. "Callisto!" he said. "Fancy meeting you here." He was disappointed she wasn't dressed up like a waitress.

"You don't remember me?" Cole said. "Wait . . . or you're not the Cal who I went to high school with."

"I have not attended any schools," Callisto said. "I do not know you."

"Oh," Cole said, disappointed. "Then . . . it wasn't you I found making out with a vampire in a supply closet."

Cole couldn't resist poking at her. Well, not literally, since he knew she had good reflexes and she was liable to chop his fingers off. "But are you as psychotic as the Callisto I knew?" he said. "Prone to random acts of violence?"

"My violence is hardly random," Callisto said. Her hand went to the hilt of her sword.

Confuse a Callisto was kind of fun.
