44 Blueberry Hill, Sunday evening

Cole was sitting on the porch, watching the thunderstorm roll in. The significance of this day hadn't escaped him. Father's Day. By this time next year he would have two reasons to celebrate the day.

Twins. Daughters. Wow. At this rate the grin was never going to leave his face.

Sam came out and sat down beside him, a licorice rope between his teeth and his hands flailing about like he didn't know what to do with them when he wasn't sparking up the flintwheel on a lighter.

"Happy Father's Day to us," he said after a moment, his smile bright enough to light up the neighborhood.

"Locked up tight, and the cats keeping an eye on it," Sam said, leaning against Cole.

"Don't want to girls born strung out on caffeine," Cole said. "Bouncing out of the cribs and off the walls. It's going to be bad enough when they learn to shimmer."
