I had my third proper dinner party last evening, all in all about 23 people showed up. I'm quite lucky that Mr. Sherries recipe was a stove-top based one, which allowed us to make both sausages and chicken at the same time. Fortunately everyone who showed up was also willing to lend a hand, which made things go much more smoothly (thanks guys!). As it stands we barely had enough food (the margin of error was two 6' tubs of leftovers). I'm trying to plan the next one so things go a bit more smoothly so I can talk to people a bit more. My grandparents are coming down to Stratford, and they are also going to be bringing down a lot of misc plates and stuff that they don't use anymore (sweet!). One effect of having these dinner parties is that my kitchen is slowly becoming more and more equipped over time (which I suppose is a good thing).
Working on Sundays is great, I rolled in today at around 4:30 pm. Normally my job consists mainly of sitting around being pestered by people who don't know how to use there computer, or got disconnected for downloading copyrighted material, or any number of things. However on Sunday, I can focus on other things. Like trying to get ISL trunking functioning on a cisco 1900, trying to figure out why the 2950s aren’t actually suspending on port violations, setting up a bulletin board for the dons, etc. It also means I get to listen to techno while I do all these things. I have this odd desire to do as much work as possible on the weekends. Now this may sound a bit crazy, but I'm thinking of pulling an all-nighter reading the cisco 1900 and 2950 manuals (its been so long since I've had the joy of dealing with networking equipment or pulling an all-nighter, let alone combined). Whats even better is (if I'm lucky) I might be able to get the time to make up for time spent in class :-)
OPD, while sorted for this semester, wants to review everything for next semester. Now, the idea of reviewing makes sense, but if the review is anything like what happened this semester I'd much rather avoid that stress. So I'm going to see if I can convince them to leave things in place for next semester and (while still doing a review next semester) having it take effect the semester after next. That way I don't get stressed out about having to WD from classes, running around 3 hours before my exam trying to tract down Profs and course co-ordinators. I'm not saying that stress is all bad, stress is wonderful for things like getting work done, but stress because of an uncontrollable event isnt.
