personality:

"We didn't come here to free a Super-Powered Teenage Terrorist." - Patriot

Tommy is a sardonic superhero teen blatantly lacking in a guilt complex. Volatile, spontaneous, and having a habit of breaking the rules; he doesn't really take to authority. Having shown he has no qualms about killing anything or anyone that poses a threat, he'd probably be off dabbling in villainy if it weren't for the Young Avengers. They saved him from mutant-juvie (for charges of "accidentally" vaporizing his entire school) and he eventually joined their ranks as a full time member. Being around them has dampened his violent inclinations somewhat as the Young Avengers have a "No Kill" rule. He's definitely held back from his old habit of blowing people up, but he'll still occasionally suggest it as a solution to their villain problems.

"You're sick, kid. I like you." - Wolverine

Sure, Tommy's stopped killing. But he's still going strong with royally kicking ass till they're barely breathing. He's violent and gets a real kick out of blowing things up whenever he gets the chance. His team often has to reign him in as he'll definitely push the envelope on how he treats their enemies and innocent bystanders caught in the line of fire. He doesn't really place a heavy importance on onlooker casualties while getting the job done, and this puts him on bad terms with his leader Patriot. He just loves fighting, doesn't need to have a good reason to do it, and goes all out.

"It wasn't my fault! Okay, it wasn't entirely my fault." - Tommy

Immature, Tommy seems to have a hard time taking the blame and he's got a pretty good knack for placing it on everyone else. Taking things seriously is something he's really got to work on, as he has a bad habit of brushing off points that should be seen as important. Like destroying property and people in the process. When confronted he'll brush you off with a snide remark and forget about it 5 minutes later. Tommy doesn't look before he leaps. He ignores words of caution and just acts, which has landed him in hot water before. Hell, to be precise. But he pops back up from these experiences no worse for wear and ready for more.

His immaturity also leads him to get along well with kids. He's got no problems going down to their maturity level.

"Really, all you need is me." - Tommy

Conceited, Tommy thinks he can handle things just fine on his own. He doesn't really do a good job of following orders half the time, which makes him a tough card to deal when they're fighting as a team. But he's proven his worth more than once, pulled his weight in the team, plus he's related to Billy; so this pretty much keeps him in the Young Avengers roster.

He's sarcastic, snide, and prone to firing off quick comebacks in the middle of fights. Actually, he doesn't need a time and place for snappy retorts. Nobody's safe from them, not even his twin. Prodding fun at Billy's relationship with Teddy is one of his past times.

"You're pretty hot, you know that? We should hook up. Go out." - Tommy

Tommy loves the ladies. A lot. He isn't shy about showing it and will flirt with the females any chance he gets.

"C'mon. Let's go do some crime." - Tommy

In the end, despite being part of a superhero team and supposedly on the "good side", Tommy still has a taste for breaking the rules and acting on whim. He's young, he's a teen, and he'll act like it. The whole "great power and great responsibility" rule be damned.

abilities: He has supersonic speed and can accelerate molecules in matter which makes solid objects go boom when he wants them too. He's also got superhuman strength and can carry up to a ton in weight.

any plans for your character here? Excitement. Tommy hates being bored. This place is new to him so he probably won't complain too much about being stuck here. He will be a real pain in the ass about touching and trying everything. Even if somebody tells him not to. Which could be disastrous, actually.

possessions:

Aside from his costume? Nothing else. He doesn't carry much.

samples.
sample journal entry:

Oy. Is that a giant? I'm pretty sure that's a giant. I was freaking out for a sec 'cause I thought he was gonna go all Cloverfield on us while I'm powered down. For some reason this place has jacked up my speed (so not cool, man. it's like juvie all over again.) so it kinda cramps my style at getting away. If he did decide to go Godzilla I'd be toast. Ending up as jelly between giant toes is not exactly a cool way to make my exit from life.

So. Where's the bathroom? Can't really use a tree. I swear one of them gave me the stink eye when I even thought about it.

third-person sample:

"This totally blows." Tommy mumbled, under his breath and to nobody in particular. The first thing that Tommy, the Young Avenger better known as Speed, noticed upon getting tossed in this strange and unfamiliar world was that his powers didn't travel well. In fact, they didn't travel at all because he suddenly didn't have them. For all he knew his abilities were lost in inter-dimensional customs somewhere and it'd be another week or a year till he got them back. Portals and reliability didn't exactly mix.

It wasn't that the place was all that terrible. It was postcard perfect, a place people would make bank building retirement homes in. But it had no bars, no clubs... looking on the bright side it was better than hell at least. He'd been there, he'd know. From what he put together he and the rest of the little lost boys and girls would be shipped off on an epic road trip for an exit route sometime soon.

He tapped his bottom lip, scratched his chin, and paced back and forth several rotations; deep in thought but unable to keep still. Suddenly, he stopped. Rubbing at the back of his neck he groused, "Guess I better work at changing my codename."
