Wingfield quitting Holby for family
We've got used to seeing handsome actor Peter Wingfield striding around the wards of Darwin and Keller in BBC One drama Holby City.
Sadly, the brooding character of Daniel Clifford won't be around for much longer, as Wingfield is quitting the show. The thesp said the strain of being away from his family (who are based in Los Angeles) for long periods contributed to his decision to leave.
He joined the series in November last year, playing Consultant Surgeon Clifford, who he described as "a fantastic character. He's got a wildness to him - you never know what he's going to do next."
But it seems keeping Wingfield on the show for the long haul was always going to be a difficult task. He explains: "I'm very wary of accepting long-term contracts. In the first episode you tell the entire story of the character and for every other episode after that, you tell a variation of the same tale.
