A new month, a new post

I've been so busy lately, it's a bit overwhelming. In between assignments for my classes, going through the process of applying for JET, and working, I've barely caught my breath.

For one of my classes, I've been writing a blog dedicated to video games. Instead of reviewing games, I've been addressing current issues within the industry. I think it's been turning out very good so far.

I've also finished "Half The Sky" by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn for my International Communications class. I really enjoyed it, and I'm really happy that I was able to read it for class. When I have more time available, I want to check out some of the organizations/charities they list in the book. I would love to get involved with one of them after I've finished school.

The next few weeks are going to be a bit chaotic. I have two assignments due next week for International Communications. On Monday, I have a package due for Writing in Broadcast Journalism. The next day, I have my part in a research project of Egypt due (when I wake up later today, I plan on e-mailing my group members to plan when we could meet up.) On Friday, I have both a book report for Contemporary Korea and four analysises for International Comm due. It's going to be a fun couple of weeks.

All during this time, I've been trying to apply to the JET Program. I've been writing and rewriting my SOP, gathering my documents, and finding references. I need to call the Japan Society tomorrow to see if I can contact my old Japanese teacher and see if she could write my a reference. On Tuesday, I'm asking my professor to write me a reference. The same day, I'm applying for my transcripts and see if they could write me a proof of graduation letter. All the while, I need to fill out my application and somehow, convince my mother to get me my passport so I can make copies to show proof of residency.

MEANWHILE, I haven't talked with my dad since Friday night. Although Ray has been out of work, owes $3,000 in hospital bills and doesn't do anything around the house, my dad wants to give him gas money and everything. He had really good temporary jobs that he blew all the money he made off them. I, on the other hand, work at a shitty job that allows me to buy my school books, pay my gas and and tolls. I have to leave my house at least two hours before my first class in order to get there on time while getting plenty of sleep and finishing all my assignments. And when I panicked about tolls going up in price, my dad said that "if [he] has extra money, [he] might be able to spare [me] some extra money."

Naturally, my mother was upset, and she called my dad out on it. He then complained about how much money my school is draining out from me... all while I was sitting at the kitchen table. He immediately said, "No offense-"

"Too late; I'm offended," I said, and I stormed away from the table. My dad hasn't apologized yet, and I won't speak with him until he has given me an apology. If Ray were in my position, my dad would have rented him out a fucking room in Queens just not to inconvenience him, and if I were in Ray's, my dad would never let me get away with half the shit he does.

In other news, I'm getting very into The Smiths. I find it astounding, as I never liked them before and I love Robert Smith and The Cure. But I am always up for good music.

life, music, raaage, jet program, books, college
