Animazement Post Times!

May 28, 2012 20:28

So, the con is over (woe and alas for me, joy for my wallet), and that means it is time for a LOOT POST. ... because I didn't take any cosplay pictures this year because laziest of lazies.

Thanks to a lack of Kisame plushies, I managed to resist getting any plushies at all! Although I am a little sad I didn't get a Nyanko-sensei plushie or a Rock Lee plushie - ESPECIALLY the Rock Lee plushie - but on the other hand I successfully kept myself from getting a Sasuke plushie (both post-evil AND pre-evil!), so overall it worked out in my favor. And I still managed to spend too much money, which is really the point of cons, right?

First the big stuff:

Akatsuki coat FUCK YEAH! ... I need to figure out where I'll hang it up. Also achieved: a sweet Naruto/Sasuke doujinshi by Rankai (an artist I really like), Beelzebub posters of Himekawa (WITH HIS HAIR DOWN OH FRABJOUS DAY) and Kanzaki, and a print from the artist's alley of Kakashi and Gai fishing together which is ADORABLE. The Beelzebub posters were billed as double-sided, but for some reason this meant that actually there was an extra poster in greyscale in each box with the main poster, which - awesome? The ones I got were Furuichi and Hilda, I kept Hilda and chibizel took Furuichi because she loves him.

... the Kakashi/Gai print is captioned "ETERNAL RIVALS: some things are worth being late for" and seriously it is SO CUTE and I love it and I ship them so hard and one day I will actually write fic for them. ;o;

Now for the small things:

From left to right: badass Kunieda with her bokken (last one the dealer had, too), adorable squishy Sakura pin, adorable shiny and non-squishy Gaara pin, squishy Kisame keychain OH MY BELOVED SHARKPERSON IF I CAN'T HAVE A PLUSHIE I CAN AT LEAST HAVE A KEYCHAIN OF YOU, squishy ANBU Itachi pin because awwwwwwww ANBU Itachi, excellent metal One Piece charm that has a tiny jingle bell on it, adorable charm of Nyanko-sensei with a pink umbrella, and adorable dying Itachi charm!

"... wait. What was that last one?" I hear you say. Let's take a closer look, shall we?

Lack of Akatsuki coat! Teeny fingers poised for a final forehead poke! The beatific smile of someone not realizing that his horrible plan is about to backfire spectacularly in a manner which ANYONE WITH A FUCKING BRAIN could have predicted! This charm could clearly only have been modelled directly from Itachi's dying panels. WHY THE EVERLIVING FUCK WOULD ANYONE DO THAT. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING, besides "ways to get money from Hokuto specifically," because they knew that this is the kind of shit I absolutely could not pass up. HIS TINY HAPPY DYING FACE WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Anyway, some other, less-material highlights of the con:
- Dancing to "Yatta" at the dance
- Hugging an adorable Chouji cosplayer*
- Watching the MST3K episode with the forklift song ("He tried to kill me with a forklift! Olé!")
- Lots of excellent cosplay in general (that I did not take pictures of)
- Spending a whole weekend with chibizel and lemone
- Watching Unico in the Island of Magic, which is the kind of quality childhood nightmare fuel you just don't get anymore
- ... I think I had some other things but I forgot IT WAS JUST REALLY FUN OKAY. Even though I bought Uchiha things when I did not mean to.

And then today I worked, but left at 5 instead of 5:30 because con blargh and general lack of motivation. I shall make it up on Friday, I guess. D:

*While wearing the Akatsuki coat, which in retrospect was a little odd, but at least I wasn't cosplaying Hidan or something.
