I slept in really late today, which was lovely, and then lazed about all afternoon re-reading Victory of Eagles, which ties with His Majesty's Dragon for favorite Temeraire book. I mean, His Majesty's Dragon has ADORABLE BABY TEMERAIRE, who is irresistible, and there are fewer deep moral dilemmas to make one sad, but on the other hand, how I do love the deep moral dilemmas and consequences in Victory of Eagles! When Laurence meets the King I was keyboard mashing and I didn't even have a keyboard to hand, that is how deeply it moved me!
Then I went to hang out with friend Jason and watch the first episode of new Doctor Who which Jason hadn't seen yet and be slightly late for a classical concert, but all we missed was some Stravinsky, so who cares. There was some lovely Bach with major oboe parts (OBOES REPRESENT!), some slightly odd but very interesting modern riffing on Bach, and then Beethoven's Emperor Concerto, which had an amazing pianist. Then we went back to his place and watched today's episode, which I thought I was going to have some feelings about, but they were all overridden by my feelings for the teaser for next week, which are OMG OMG OMG BRITISH SOLDIER DALEKS! I want to hear them sing the British national anthem! I want them to say "God save the Queen" nine million times! IT IS GOING TO BE SO FUCKING AWESOME! This week's episode was all right but BRITISH SOLDIER DALEKS, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, FANGIRL MODE IS SUPER ACTIVATE.
Oh and for a getting-into-grad-school present Jason bought me a University of Gallifrey T-shirt, it is SUPER COOL. Now if only the mailperson hadn't been a lazy jerk and ACTUALLY TRIED TO DELIVER THE PACKAGE for which a slip was left in my mailbox this afternoon, I might actually have my Daleks today and life would be nothing but rainbows and unicorns and Daleks! ALAS.
I should really go deal with DA because it exploded while I was away, but fuck I am tired and I think I will go to sleep instead.
