Middle English is really quite fun, once you get the hang of pre-Great Vowel Shift vowels. It is, for example, most amusing to realize that the word "laxative," with a slightly altered and variable spelling of course, has been in use since the fourteenth century and probably long before.
Plus there is this absolutely fantabulous word, "wlatsom." It means disgusting or nauseating, and I cannot imagine for the life of me how that word could possibly have fallen out of regular English usage. Wlatsom. Say it out loud. Is it not wonderful? Fray wants to use it as part of his regular vocabulary, with its meaning; Citroen wants to say it just for the sounds involved.
I do so love it when characters in my head benefit from my own expanding education. <3
