(no subject)
Sorry for disappearing again! It has been a very busy week of jetlag, playing internet catch-up, Yuletiding (fic is uploaded, whoohoo!), and of course baking and holiday decorating. So - eventful, but not very interesting. And no more bears running across the road, thankfully. XD
I did finally get to go see Desolation of Smaug with my family yesterday, though!
So, Tauriel: I really liked her as a new character, she was badass and her Elvish sounded quite natural! Her relationship with Kili was cute, maybe a little unnecessary but still cute, so I'm not complaining there, though the Legolas angle was annoying. (It's okay, Legolas, you'll find your own dwarf boyfriend soon enough!)
Thranduil: NEEDS MORE THRANDUIL. Unf, all my favorite moments were him on screen. ... well, him or Smaug, because oh wow DRAGON DRAGON DRAGON DRAGON DRAGON! I JUST LOVE DRAGONS OKAY! I have since I was old enough to read The Hobbit by myself and possibly before! Nnnnnnngh I want Peter Jackson to make a Temeraire movie just so there will be MORE DRAGONS. ALL THE DRAGONS. DRAGONS EVERYWHERE.
... where was I? OH YEAH, MORE THRANDUIL PLZKTHNX. And also I guess the main thing I came away with is that I really need to read the Silmarillion again, because the only time I read it I was still in elementary school and I skipped the chapter with the fall of Gondolin because it was bumming me out. Then I stalled out somewhere in the stuff about Numenor because I didn't really care about it. So yeah, I must read it again, if only so I can remember which types of elves are which.
