Apologies for my silence! Since I came home the actual day right before Animazement, I've pretty much - just been running around Animazement with
lemone all weekend having a lovely time and trying to pretend that jetlag is not a real thing that happens. XD And when I haven't been at Animazement, I've been desperately trying (and mostly failing) to catch up on internet things, so. Yeah.
Anyway, Animazement was great this year as it usually is! I went to a panel on the Shinsengumi, was baffled by all of the AMVs having a strange blue filter which was apparently an equipment malfunction because we left partway through and then came back and the last two AMVs didn't have the blue filter, attended an excellent Awesomely Bad MVs panel and an even better Anime Hell, watched The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya which made Lemone and I both want to watch more Haruhi Suzumiya (if only for Kyon's Eeyore act), looked at lots of things, saw many wonderful cosplays, went to the MST3K panel, and today went to a panel with Ryusei Nakao (voice of Farfarello, Freeza, Mayuri, and others) which was GREAT. He's always so funny and enthusiastic and nice to everyone! ♥ So, a fairly laid-back con experience overall, but now that I'm old and cranky (and often jetlagged), I'm pretty okay with that.
Also, amazingly, I did not spend too much money in the dealer's room! I think this is an actual first, and it is almost certainly because the one thing I wanted this year was a Sasuke plushie, because damn it, after chapter 631, I just - couldn't deny myself anymore. So a Sasuke plushie was going to be my single indulgence, my big score, my reward to myself for, I don't know, putting up with the little shit for 631 chapters and somehow managing to love him.
... guess what plushies were not available in the dealer's room this year. Go on, guess. (It was kind of a plushie-light dealer's room anyway, but the selection of Naruto plushies was bafflingly tiny! Last year there were plushies of practically everyone but Kisame! I AM CONFUSED AND SADDENED BY THIS LACK OF PLUSHIES.)
HOWEVER. I was not to be deterred! I required a Sasuke of some sort, and by the gods, I found one.
FAILSUKE.
He cost two whole dollars, and do you know what? I don't fucking regret a penny of it. His posing is awful, he needs a bath and repainting and not to be a probable McDonald's toy, and I just have no regrets. He hung on my badge's lanyard all weekend and gave me joy, and I suspect he will give me joy for many days to come.
And at least he can stand pretty well, which is more than I can say for some figures I have purchased, RINZLER. Hell, it's more than I can say for some BJDs that I paid much much more than two dollars for.
He was my only purchase for myself the entire weekend. Which is probably for the best.
And now, if you will excuse me, I have more internets to deal with. XD
