Baths

Mele does not like baths.  He has a tendency to run downstairs and get in his crate if he even THINKS that you're thinking about giving him a bath.  (I am not sure how a dog that loves swimming can be convinced that entering a bathtub is fatal.)  However, he was long overdue this evening and was off-white in all of the white spots.  I started running water in the tub first, at which point he went downstairs.  Several minutes later, he ventured back up, only to see me rooting through the linen closet.  He went back downstairs, and I found him in the crate.
The interesting thing is that he will follow me back upstairs and into the bathroom once I've clipped his leash onto him.  I think this is because, as a dog, he thinks that the leash is mandatory.  I don't have to pull or drag him, and he will actually lead me up the stairs.  Once in the bathroom, he is resigned to the idea of bathing.  He will actually jump into the tub on his own once I remove the leash, and will then stay there until told he can get out again.  I have actually left the room to retrieve combs and brushes on multiple occasions, to find him patiently waiting in the tub on my return.
He got lathered and rinsed twice, then rinsed with cream rinse.  And he's currently white.  I give it until tomorrow, especially if the rain persists.
