Someday at this long journey’s end
When all is done and dusted
When old bones creak and joints don’t bend
And the mind is old and rusted

When teeth are gone and gums laid bare
And dentures rule instead
When it’s been twenty years since my last hair
And the sun glints off my head

Outside my window dawns the day
As buildings blot the sky
I’ll sigh and watch the kids at play
In Hyper Heelies floating by

I’ll hack and cough and swallow
As my bladder starts to leak
An old guy left to fallow
As his legs go ever weak

When eyes go red and rheumy
And the knees get really sore
When the pants get big and roomy
And Viagra works no more

When the fancy condo has been sold
And all I’ve got’s a bed
When the Ferrari’s gotten really old
And the wheelchair rules instead

When my heart’s last beats are growing few
At my long journey’s end
I’ll cherish this journey walked with you
My partner, wife and friend.
