The new US Strategy: Annihilation and Humiliation of Islamic State and radical Islamism
With the U.S. fight against radical Islamism entering its 16th year,
U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis has publicly declared a change in strategy:
- The new strategy is designed to destroy IS completely,
- not just to force it out of certain areas.
- Instead of hoping the ideology dies out with the fighters,
- it targets the root of the Islamic State:
- recruitment and fundraising efforts
