They made a statue of us

So you're with someone for a final hurrah, trying to figure out what to do. You keep interrupting each other with stories and suggestions and random exclamations and "okay, did you notice when..." moments, and you never really decide what to do. You keep trying to find something that you always do, or a place you always go, or something that is "yours." Then you realize that this IS what you do, you interrupt each other and don't make sense to anyone else and you don't have to finish sentences, and you both notice this at the same time, and suddenly you don't need a final hurrah because nothing is final. Then you laugh to yourself because you sound like a "California Diaries" book, and you laugh again because there is one other person who will laugh along with you about that, and that, my dear, is what I call perfection.

On another note, I love rowing. I really do. This weekend = The Best Regatta becuase a) it was fun b) it was long and c) we actually did well. Five hundred meter dashes? Why didn't I know about coxing these before? Man it was fun. There are many rowing terms and stories about people and races and moments that are on the same level of greatness as Davey rubbing two quarters together, but I won't, becuase that would ruin it. ALTHOUGH, Miriam gave me a hug, which was weird, but it showed that she actually noted me a real coxswain who knew what she was doing, which I have been waiting for all summer. That was good.

As much as I don't need a final hurrah, that sure was a good one.

And practices next week are going to end up being me, Jolene, Cullen, Jack, and Linnea for the beginning of the week, and I am excited.

I have a new favorite thing in life: when someone finally sees you truly happy or truly excited about something, and they become happy or excited with you, just because you're so happy and excited. That moment when they catch your eye and mouth "Nice work" or give you the thumbs up secretly, or even come up to you an hour later and congratulate you because "they didn't want to harass you when you were so happy"....is the best moment ever.
