So I had said that I wanted a Home Depot gift certificate for Christmas from my in-laws. My plan was to build some shelves for my garage so that I could stack our plethora of plastic containers on it and wheel them around. Well here they are. I spend about 8 hours on this one and I am going to build another one next weekend.
It measures 3 feet x 4 feet and is approx 6 feet tall.
Here is how I built it.
I first cut some 1x3 to length and then glue it to the panel that will become a shelf.
I clamp it and flip the board over.
I then screw it in so that it stays put.
Repeat for all 4 sides.
I made two more of these boards. I then painted them because they were kinda splintery and I didn't want my children to put their eye out :-P.
Next I took some 2x4's and cut them to 6 feet. (A 12 foot board sticks almost 6 feet out of my car window!! That was an amusing ride home.) I then screwed some little blocks (3.5 inches wide) at 26 inch intervals onto those 6 foot boards. Then I clamped each board onto the "pegs" and screwed it.
I put some wheels on it so that I can easily move it around.
I added cross bars for support and it is now done!
Somehow this didn't make my garage any cleaner :-P
This is a first step to reclaiming my garage! Second step will come on large item garbage haul away day which comes usually in April. Does anybody want a semi-functional dishwasher?
