OF COURSE the white cop won't live to marry the black nurse
Was watching something that turns out to be the second half of The New Centurions ( 1972 ) on TVO, it has a touching relationship between a white cop that reminds me of Eddie Blake, and a black (but not blacker than a paper bag) nurse that reminds me of Sally (or Older Moloch, the way she's patient when he's Drunk And Sad). Kept waiting for him to bite it, or her, because this ALWAYS happen in interracial film relationships...or...he dumps her instead of marrying her. Close call during night chase scene, he lives. In the ten minutes before the movie ends, one of his buddies announce marriage plans, and he declares that he's going to try it again himself. Then, out of nowhere, they answer a domestic disturbance call after passing by a woman who's been kicked in the ribs, he gets shot in the stomach, and the movie ends with him DEAD.
Typical Hollywood. Even anime/manga isn't that bad...probably because, especially with manga, it's less regulated, they are not allowed to show the bits, but that's about it. There is no ironhold Big Guild.
