The Bad Wolf Did It: Jantolution FIx It for "Reset" and everything.

Oy, following the idea that The Bad Wolf Did It, BWDI, can be used to fix Jack's loneliness at any point in time, because when Rose was the Bad Wolf, she was reaching across Space and Time...I present to you a Jantolution fix that also fixed "Reset", in that Ianto was the one who got shot instead of Owen...but no worries folks, he got better;

"It Only Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time"

When Ianto was kind, he could imagine Rose shrugging it off as something she didn't think through, sorry, but Rose is on another world. The only time he had met Rose, Ianto had not known who (and what) she was, and Rose as she is now probably no longer remember.

The last word they have from her was the note, when they have finally gotten around to reading it; 'Oy, Jack, I won't remember returning him to you, but have a happy eternity - Rose'

It was a mix of shock and relief over Ianto reviving, naked and gift wrapped in a torso length red-bow, that they didn't even think to question the why and how and what now until much, much, later. After Jack had christened Ianto's revival enough times that the sirens outside the SUV had died down, and Jack started wondering outloud if Ianto was actually a Time Lord. A golden aura of light too bright to be looked at directly, had hailed Ianto's transformation from cooling corpse to almost naked and alive again. It was after Martha had finally cracked a side-door open and jokingly(?) asked if she could join in, and pointing out that it'd been Over Four Hours, that Jack and Ianto had gotten to read the note that came with the red bow.

Overall, Ianto was very thankful to Rose for giving him his life back, and more, even if his importance to a woman he had never met was owed to his apparent importance to her DIY pet immortal. He even thought it was sweet and funny, the day after he had first died and came back, that she was thoughtful enough to have giftwrapped him and left a note.

Even with his immortality, Jack dying was something they had always avoided, it was unpleasant for him, and his team never knew if it would be the last time. With Ianto, they also took care to Keep Him From Dying, especially in the beginning, when they didn't know if the gift of life was one time or not (they've tested Ianto with small cuts on his arm, but as fast as they have healed they still weren't sure, until he died again).

Now, in their dangerous lives, Ianto and Jack took turns taking over the most dangerous parts from Tosh and Owen and Gwen, and though Ianto had only died a handful of times this year, really now, a handful of his suits 'burnt up' to be replaced by the same make of ribbon and note (identical down to the molecule, probably), was quite enough.

...and Ianto really didn't need Owen's joke about killing him for Christmas.
