The Tosh one is not even half as long as the Gwen one, but awww, I'll be writing Tosh more in ways out of Torchwood...and I liked Tosh's better, it used to be longer before I cut out some stuff that seems to drone, maybe I should have edited Gwen's more...but Gwen tends to drone more herself (and Owen screams). Tosh, and Ianto, are the types to bleed to death quietly.
[Beautiful Bride]
If Gwen Cooper could live the past months again, she would still have joined Torchwood. How could she have resisted it? Being more than a grunt in permanent deadwaters because police work just don't allow her to be flexible the way she needs to. How could she have resisted Jack Harkness? Beautiful man of mystery.
She knew now, that she had saw in Jack a twin, as he had recognized in her a similar flame. They are what the other could be in another life, and what might have been is irresistable.
She needed Owen too, when she had him, someone to pour her hearts out to, when Rhys would not have been allowed to remember, and Jack, of such a different life, could not have understood (refused to acknowledge it). She needed Owen when she had him, while she was looking to Jack (how could anyone not look? He demands attention, just like her), and wanting Rhys.
He calls her out when she crosses the line, and stands by her even after she's changed her life, their life. All those times she told him nothing when she needed to be held, and he does it without question.
So all Gwen had wanted to do today was get married, have her day with him, after all these months, that's all she wanted.
She wanted to give Rhys what he wants, though she forgot to ask him what it is, but he's still supporting her and she loves him.
Very gently, Rhys holds her closer and leans down so he can hear her whispers, "Rhys, I'm sorry about your mother."
His great big eyes are wet with grief, but he's still not angry with her, "It's alright, I forgive you, I always will."
The barn door rattles again, and her eyes goes dark.

[One or the Other]
After a while, the guards learned what she did to get here, then why, and stopped manhandling her like she was scum. With good behaviour, Toshiko earned books and writing materials, and then, always under watchful eyes, the tasks of fixing whatever they bring her. She doesn't ask any questions, and that was always what everyone wanted from her.
One morning they took her from her cell, along with all her things (books, notes, and a duffel bag full of all her clothes), and put her into a van that took her to a very tall tower.
The woman at the top looks at her and states "We are Torchwood One, and from now on, you'll be working for us."
