After Charms; rp JD & Jack

Nov 21, 2006 05:22

((I'll say vague spoilers.))

After everything that had happened in Charms.

"It isn't about the memory charm. Just leave it. Okay." Jack snapped, sounding a lot harsher than he wanted to. He was feeling tired, he didn't know exactly why, this made him ever so slightly cranky.

JD's step faltered as his head reeled a little. "Look, I know that you're upset and that you've had a long journey, but I'm trying to help." he said, speeding up again.

"Maybe I don't want help anymore! Maybe I just want to be left to..." He couldn't even do that. "I might just go throw myself out the window. Because let's face it what good will it do."

"Jack, don't talk like that!" JD said, running up to grab hold of one of his hands. "Look, you're probably just stressed from the trip and all, why don't you sleep on it, and then think about everything?"

"It's not like I've not done it before." Jack pulled his hands away and put them into his pockets. "That's where I was headed."

JD nodded and began to walk, hoping to steer Jack towards the room. "Key's missed you." So have I.

Jack sighed. "I'm sorry I just left..." That was where he was headed.

"It's alright, Jack." he said, smiling cautiously and putting an arm around his shoulders carefully.

"I..." Jack was losing the want to fight. "I don't want to know. It was one of them moments I wasn't really thinking."

JD smiled faintly, hugging Jack a little, not wanting to set him off again. "Look, it's alright, you needed space to think, and you had to help people, I understand, Jack." he said, smiling again.

If by help he meant himself, then yes, and was chasing ghosts really even doing that? Jack just kept walking.

JD had no idea what to say. What was the right thing to say? "Jack, is there anything I can do to help?" he asked several seconds later.

"No..." Jack turned to look at JD. "You're right I just need sleep."

JD smiled and walked over, then rubbed his back sympathetically. "Everything'll be better when you wake up." he said, smiling warmly.

Jack put an arm round JD's shoulders. "So she missed me huh?"

"Pining all the time." he said, leaning in happily as they walked.

"Aww, I don't think Bob missed anyone." Jack laughed quietly. "Vanished off, betting he's back before me though."

JD smiled. "I never, ever thought I'd see a Pterodactyl, never mind have one as a pet!" he said, grinning now.

"I never thought I'd stay with someone so long." Jack smiled, as he hid a yawn with his hand.

JD smiled and kissed Jack's cheek. "I'm glad you have."

"I missed my pillow while I was away." Jack rested his head on JD. Where was the fat lady, he wanted in the common room.

"I missed you too." he said, smiling a little.

"I'll just sleep here." Jack let go of JD and leant against the wall.

"Where the heck is she?" he asked, looking at the surrounding paintings. He leant next to Jack and smiled a little. "Two seconds, we'll get you in bed soon."

"No rush, slept stranger places."

JD laughed. "I bet a spaceship doesn't even strike you as being an odd place to sleep."

"That was home for far too long." Jack remembered things he'd not thought about so much in a while. "The Tardis... she was, she knew, have to ask Rose if she, the Tardis kept my room. Many places. Some amazing. Some I'd rather forget about."

JD nodded silently, wondering if this was something Jack didn't want to talk about.

Jack slid down the wall. "Why isn't she back?"

JD frowned at the portrait, before he glanced down the hall. "Hello?" he shouted. "Where's the fat lady?" he asked them, exasperated.

Jack pulled his coat around him more as he rested his head back against the wall.

"I think I see her." he said, spotting something large and pink stomping through the painting of an elegant garden.

"About time." Jack muttered over the top of his coat.

"Open up already!" JD muttered as she entered the painting. "The password is Hinkypunk." he said, irritated. Giving JD a furious glare, she swung open, letting them in. "Do you need a hand up?" he asked, bending down to Jack.

"I'll be fine." Jack got to his feet on his own.

JD smiled and stepped aside, letting Jack go in first.

Jack was more than happy to be in the warm of the common room, though he wasn't stopping long. He was passing through, heading for the stairs. Heading for their bed. Sleep.

JD followed after him, after quickly asking for some soup and tea from the kitchens, from a House Elf. "Nearly there." he said, comfortingly.

Jack ignored everything when he got into their room, coat was lost, shoes and the rest of his clothes, straight into bed. Maybe this was what happened after he hadn't slept in so long, and there was also the question if the patronus had been tapping into his life force, for one way of explaining it, it would explain the glow it had. Jack pulled the covers back over him.

JD quickly put things away, then smiled sadly and crawled onto the bed, above the covers. Curling around behind Jack, he hugged him softly and held on.

Jack closed his eyes, thankful JD was there and hoping he was too exhausted to dream.

JD held Jack, snuggling him comfortingly. "Night, Jack." he whispered, stroking his head gently.

Jack would have answered if he wasn't for the most out of it, finally getting some needed rest, least making him feel remotely human again.
