((Not all that spoilery as far as I can tell first two eps of Torchwood if there are, but still gonna tag as being spoilery to be on the safe side. ))
Jack wasn't really behaving like Angel brooding up in the Astronomy tower, he was waiting for Gwen, beside him on the roof there was a disgruntled looking pterodactyl, who had been made to deliver the message to her. Common sense would be use an owl but Jack had made Bob the pterodactyl do it as it was much more amusing for him, and at least Gwen had seen the creature before. It was also a way of getting the creature to do something instead of just being spoilt. Why the Astronomy tower, well it was high up, currently Doctor-less and away from the majority of people. It also fitted that they met there.
"Jack?" Jack nodded as he heard the familiar accent of Gwen, meaning that she had, eventually, found her way up to him. She glanced out a window as she walked up to him. "Why should I be surprised thast you're all the way up here." Gwen gave a quick startled glance to the pterodactyl on the roof, it stared back at her. "You again." She looked then to Jack. "You wanted to speak to me."
"I did." Jack smiled at her. "Sorry I've not found you earlier. Things have been, interesting."
"Interesting?"
"Okay complicated. First Suzie turns up then you."
Gwen look worriedly at Jack.
"Time doesn't matter here." He guessed at why she looked worried but didn't say.
"You didn't turn up for duty in 1941."
"Ah, you've met the Doctor then."
"I did, what's his name, it isn't can't just be the Doctor."
"It is."
"He said you travelled together."
"We did, Rose too."
"Oh I've met her, nice girl. Seemed to think she knew me."
"Odd..." He sounded like he might possibly know more than he let on.
"It was. That Doctor said so too, never met either of them before. Said he visited Cardiff before too"
Jack found something interesting to look at in the distance.
"Sorry, I'm asking too many questions."
"Don't be, it's who you are."
Gwen smiled and looked away. "You've still never answered me, who are you?"
"If I find out, I'll be sure to let you know." Jack laughed shortly. "How are you finding things?"
"Confusing, but so far nothing like my first day was at work." Gwen looked at Jack. "Can't be all you wanted to talk to me about."
"Actually it was, that and show you the view."
Gwen laughed, partly out of disbelief. "You like tall buildings. Do I get to know why there was no guided tour from you after I met the Hat. Which reminds me, I need to send it that gnome."
"A gnome..." Jack repeated slightly confused.
"Yes, a garden gnome. It wanted it, one of the more unusual items we got handed in."
"A garden gnome." Jack laughed. "Well... you can borrow that if you like. He'll take it." The disgruntled pterodactyl stared at them both. "Won't you." It looked away. "You can go and annoy someone for me too." Jack sighed. "You'll see Suzie, see if she'll spoil you."
"You've still not told me Jack."
"Six months. Spent most of it in bed with JD, watching films."
Gwen gave him a skeptical look. "Watching films..."
"Yes." Jack grinned. "Don't question me about them. I was distracted some of the time."
Gwen laughed and thought of Rhys back home. Jack put an arm round her.
"Let's go send some mail."
