Dear Sorting Hat/ Headmistress
I have only recently been relieved of my kernel state --as you may already know, and I'm very pleased to be back in Hogwarts fully functioning. However it has come to my attention that I no longer have my position as neither Potions Master nor Slytherin Head of House. I would ask you both with the utmost sincerity if I could have these positions returned to me. You will know how very capable I am, and would surely agree that my skill and experience far surpasses that of a one "Stephen Maturin" --whom now claims my position as his own-- and am therefore the better man for the job. I would furthermore like to add that I believe there was once an imposter Severus Snape here, or at least, I myself was drugged (an almost impossibility, I assure you. I'm very competent in detecting potions before ingested.) or --more likely-- cursed; resulting in severe out of character behaviour (from what my sources have told me) and memory loss. This, I feel, makes the handing over of my job somewhat unfair and ask you to reconsider my and Maturin's applications, possibly to make it be that Maturin was a substitute in my absense.

Severus made his way from the owlrey, refusing to admit to himself that he was actually nervous about the reply he would recieve. What would he do if he didn't have some level of authority around this place? Be a student again? Prepostrous. Would he leave? He doubted it, he was safer in here than out there...especially since Dumbledore died.

He mentally shook himself and demanded that his brain shut up immediately. He didn't want to go down that road today. Not that he ever wanted to think about it, but gut-wrenching guilt and depression on top of THE TOTALLY NON-EXISTANT nervousness was bound to leave him a drunken mess and that was definetly NOT what he wanted to be. He ran a hand through his hair and decided to head for the library. It would distract him and maybe he would be able to find an answer to this strange memory loss...
