Osaka bounces through the hallway, partially because she can mostly remember how to get places these days and mostly because she's hoping to talk to people. She's been missing her close-knit group of friends from Tokyo. So she's thrilled when she sees the door to Ravenclaw open again. She pokes her head inside and smiles happily at a familiar face. "Ed-san! How are you?"
"Osaka, hey!" Ed didn't remember inviting Osaka, but he didn't mind her sticking around either. "Are you gonna stick around for Al's birthday party?" He nodded his head toward Al, indicating who he was talking about.
Osaka looks blank for a second. "Oh! I'll be right back!" She runs out as fast as she can (which is admittedly, only slightly faster than her normal walking speed) and reappears a few minutes later. "I didn't realize there was a birthday. I hope your brother likes cats." She holds out one of her Nekokoneko tissues. "It isn't much, but I didn't know."
"Hello! I'm Osaka, but that's not my real name. I'm in Hufflepuff but your brother and Hermione-san were very nice to me at a party once and I wanted to come say hi." She gives him the tissues. "If I had known that it was your birthday I would have got you something nice. I hope you like it, though!"
Al grinned and raised an eyebrow at Ed. Apparently there was a lot more than studying going on at this school.
He turned to Osaka. "Yeah? That sounds like it would be fun. The levitating part, I mean. I haven't really learned how to use a wand yet. Maybe you could show it to me with one of these blocks?"
"Sure!" She pulls out her wand from her skirt's waistband and points it at a Jenga block. "Wingardium leviosa!" she says carefully, remembering to do the proper swish-and-flick that Hermione-san showed her. And sure enough, the block floated up in the air. She smiled triumphantly.
"Oh no, I'm not very good at it at all. I'm not a very good student, but I try hard and that's worth something, too. Why would I need to draw circles? Is that some sort of advanced magic?"
"Trying hard's worth a lot, and it looked like you were good at what you were doing. Drawing a circle is for Alchemy. It's not magic, exactly. It's based on science, but it can makes things move and change, sort of like magic does. I could show you some, sometime, if you'd like."
"Oh! Your brother told me a little about it the last time there was a party. It sounded very complicated, so if you can do it to then I think Ravenclaw is a very good place for you. I don't know about the drinking, though. I think you're probably a little young for it. I think I'd like to see more alchemy, though. It looked very interesting."
"I guess it's a little complicated. It takes years to learn how to do some of it, and working hard, just like with the magic. But Ed's really smart, so he learned quickly. I've learned a lot too, but not as much as him. This is probably not a good place for a demonstration, though. There's too many people here."
Al misses the part about drinking, at first, then he realizes what Osaka's said. "We're not required to drink in Ravenclaw, are we? I'm fourteen today, but I don't think I'm supposed to drink alcohol."
