Open RP on the grounds

Sep 24, 2006 21:02

Harry'd woken up that morning and had decided to dedicate the day to his studies. He found the idea of practising magic quite fascinating, and generally enjoyed passing the day with his nose in a book (when not with Sarah, of course). But today, for some reason, he was feeling restless. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, other than the sort ( Read more... )

"Harry!" He beamed at his companions. "Sarah Jane! Can't tell you how glad I am to see you." He wasn't about to complain how it rather stung to be grinning in his usual way with a rather nasty bruise on the side of his face, of course. No, he didn't think he was interrupting anything at all.

Harry blinked and looked up at the Doctor. "Hullo, Doctor. We were just talking about you." He took a step towards the man and brushed his fingers lightly along the Doctor's cheek, seeing how old the bruise was. "What happened?"

Sarah Jane smiled quite happily as the Doctor showed up. She tried not to giggle. Right. "Yes.. yes we were. Oh dear.. are you alright?"

"Were you, now?" He winced a little and took a step away. "Oh, that, er, well, nothing, really. Nothing much. Just a little...incident. Nothing to worry about." He at least didn't plan on worrying about it until Jack replied to his letter. "Just fine. Everything's fine."

"Yes, like I said." He lowered his hands to his side when the Doctor stepped away. "Right. Well, you'll have to pardon my incredulity, old chap, but you tend to repeat yourself a bit when you're lying to us."

"What he said." Sarah parroted, looking him over. "Obviously you didn't run into something because you're the Doctor and you're about to tell me how Time Lords never run into things like I don't know.. someone's fist?" she tsk'd slightly. "What would Rose think?"

"She'd probably smack me and smack Jack and...smack the both of us--" Oh, wait. "I mean, Jack's a good bloke and all, really, we just...er. We don't see eye to eye sometimes," he finished lamely. "It's really nothing to worry about..."

Harry shook his head. Some things never changed. "Well, no wonder Sarah likes her. What with all that smacking." He grinned sillily at both of them, then put on a more serious look. "What isn't you aren't agreeing on?"

Sarah gaped slightly and blushed a bit, shaking her head. "She does.. um.. have a very nice.. er.. smack." Heh. So another fight with Jack. Jack who was supposed to be helping them, not making things worse. Sigh.

"Jack's constantly getting people into trouble though. Some crazy nutter thought I was him."

"...Forgot, actually, what we were arguing about this time...guess just about what would happen if--" when when when "--when I find the TARDIS. About him, about his mannerisms, I don't know. We're better when Rose is around, but since she's not around us most of the time, I suppose we're just missing something...? I'd rather not really talk about it, all right? It's just one of those things between him and me." He glanced at Sarah Jane. "...Who could possibly mistake you for Jack?"

"Yeah.. sounds like you're missin her. Which is odd because I see her quite a bit actually." Ah yes, Sarah Jane. Play it up. "Won't pry then." She'd just bug Jack. Yeah. "Some old nutter woman who hexed me later on. She was quite sure I was Jack in some disguise. Dunno what she wanted me for, or what Jack did but she lead me all the way down to the medic wing."

She was practically fuming just thinking about it. "Oh I yelled and I pushed her and told her to get off me and finally she figured out I wasn't him and then blamed me for the whole thing. Right bloody awful witch, that one is."

Harry frowned. "She hexed you?" He knew hexes weren't necessarily evil or anything (not like he'd learned as a kid), but he didn't much like the idea of anyone hexing Sarah. "That's not acceptable."

The Doctor muttered something about JD and hexes under his breath. "Well, that old Nutter woman is quite...volatile, I guess would be the right word." He shifted his posture awkwardly. "Oh, you see Rose a lot now?" More than see, according to Jack. Who had an annoying tendency to exaggerate and jerk his chain half the time, and say the truth exactly when not needed the other half. "Get along pretty well, do you?"

"Yeah.. some kind of silencing hex. Couldn't say anything for a couple of hours until someone fixed me." She looked pointedly at Harry, "And not ONE word about you wishing I would've stayed that way." She almost smiled at him.

Turning back to the Doctor, she gave a small nod. "Oh yes. I'm helping her out with her hangover alcohol. That and some other.. things. She's awful lonely." Well at least that was the truth.

"I think I'd be rather disturbed if you stayed silent, old girl. It'd be like turning the universe inside out or something." Harry winked playfully at Sarah and slid an arm around her waist. He didn't realize it could be seen as a possessive gesture; he just liked having her close when they were joking around.

Harry said nothing when Sarah mentioned Rose, just nodded and muttered, "Loneliness is hard..." before trailing off and looking at the two of them brightly.

"Is she? I keep meaning to talk to her, but then things happen." Things like fights with Jack. Things like enchanted cookies. Things like dearly departed companions come back almost like from the dead. "You know how it is around me, even if I'm in one place, one time, things happen. Suppose it's better than nothing..."
