Secrets post 5!

Sep 16, 2006 00:14

There is a noticeboard up outside the Great Hall and one by one, images are appearing pinned to the corkboard, with students tacking up thoughts on the images on index cards. Nobody can ever catch anyone posting an image, only the comments, and there is no way to use magic or science to know who posted what.

OOC: what is this thing and what are the rules? )

Ooookay, you're one of two people and I... figured it was pretty obvious for both of you "what I want."

I just...don't get it. I try my best, but you never realize, and never say thanks. I'm here, so why do you keep trying to shove me away?

Oh, well, now I know who you are. Sorry, I'm all out of tissues and lollipops.

Maybe I'd be more thrilled if I thought you were trying the best for the sake of actually doing the best job you can, and not because you want my approval.

I do work to do the best job I can, but would it kill you to say well done? I just feel like I'm never doing anything right.

I know what I want, but I also know I can't have it.

Can you tell me so that I'll at least stop failing so badly?

I'm not the one you need to impress, and you shouldn't need to impress anyone. But it's pretty obvious who -you- are.

...Why would I be trying to impress you?

Oh, geez, I hate to agree with ^^^ her, but she is, for once, somewhat right.

If you would stop worrying for about five seconds about impressing me, you actually might for a change.

I don't worry. I juts.. I don't know. It's fine. you wouldn't care anyway

You know what I care about? I care about you being a good doctor. That's it. You're right, I don't care about whatever whiny little problems you have in the interim between "crap" and "good."

I care about that too! But still, you had the Chief of Medicine as your Mentor when you were an Intern, and he was supportive! I'd be happy with even a pat on the back once in a while

Oh, bringing up my past to make your case! Well done.

I'm not that guy. You knew that when you signed on with me. What I want is for you to be the best, and I don't mean 'better than me' or 'better than Barbie' or 'the next Chief of Medicine.' I want you to be your best. And you're not.

Saying well done once in a while isn't going to stop me being my best.

He's right, you know. A bit of encouragement sometimes makes the difference between giving up and having that little extra push to be better.
