Trouser Appreciation Night - Jack Aubrey and Molly take a walk

Molly made her way to the common room and sat in one of the armchairs by the fireplace, resting her feet on the fender. She was almost inordinately pleased Jack had kept good on his word to go for a walk--in her twenty-odd years of dealing with men, she'd yet to meet one as gentlemanly as Jack.

It's a nice change, isn't it? the Narrator mused. I'm almost tempted not to make you screw it up, either.

"Thanks," she murmured dryly. "How kind of you."

For once in her life she'd taken some care with her appearance. She hadn't brought many nice clothes with her, which was just as well--her usual assortment would have been far too modern (i.e., risque, by Jack's point of view). She still wasn't certain just what year he'd traveled here from, and she didn't want to shock his sensibilities any more than she had to. She'd finally settled on her one long skirt (which mostly hid her motorcycle boots) and an ironed, button-down blue flannel.

Yeah, well, I try to be magnanimous, the Narrator chuckled.

"Just so long as you keep quiet," she whispered. "Otherwise I'll medicate you senseless."
