((Fiyero is from the musicalverse (though BV!Fiyero is amazing as well), shortly after 'Thank Goodness' - in that he's just run off in order to regroup and look someplace new for Elphaba. This is his someplace new. xD

*blinks - blinks again - is clearly unsettled by the fact this woman reminds him oddly of Elphaba*

"I am." *clears throat*

*looks interested* I'm Maureen Johnson. From New York. Where would you like to go, Prince Fiyero? *giggles, as it's kind of funny to her to actually meet a real prince*

*head canted to the right as he looks at her, is a bit puzzled as to the giggling but smiles* "New York? It's not a place I've heard of before, but then this is the first time I've left Oz. And I have no idea where I want to go, would you like to tell me about these 'Houses'?"

*bites her bottom lip as she tries to remember* Ravenclaw is for really smart people who read all the time...*smirks* Obviously I didn't make it into that one. I was locked up in a room for six months and I just got out yesterday, so I'm not sure what Slytherin's for, but some of those people scare me. I think Gryffindor has something to do with being brave or something and Hufflepuff *laughs* that's mine...is good so far. We have some pretty cool people there.

*smile is still pleasant, but his gaze is intent* "Locked ina room for six months? That's awful. So you don't know many people here yet?"

*mulls over what she's said* "Well, Ravenclaw's definitely out for me, and since you don't recommend Slytherin, it's between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. I guess I'll have to leave it up to you whether you think I'm 'brave or something' or 'pretty cool'." *grins*

Shakes her head no* Not many. I met a girl in the weirdest costume I've ever seen named Galinda, a spaghetti creature of some sort, and a cute kid named Yuki, but that's it.

*looks curiously at him* Do you have to be brave to do that guard thing?

*again with the blinking - this time, with an actual name, cannot be a coincidence*

"Galinda? Did she give you a last name?"

*looks thoughtful* I think it was a weird last name....Upperland or Upland or something. She was a blonde if that helps. *is curious* Do you know her?

*is perplexed and more than a bit concerned - 'How did she get here before me?'*

"I think I do, from the name and description." *looks around* "Does everyone in the school come to this room?"

*shrugs* I don't think everyone has to come here for sortings, but I think everyone comes through here when they get sorted for the first time...is something wrong?

*shakes head and gives her an easy smile* "No, nothing wrong, I was just surprised."

*pauses for a moment, thinking back and trying to change the subject, as he is not sure how he wants to handle Galinda being here or how she got here before he did or the fact he feels guilty leaving her without an explanation as to where he was going or how long he would be gone*

"To answer your question, to be a guard you have to be pretty brave or just determined."

*gives him a wide smile* Alright. In that case, I will just have to vote you into Gryffindor. *is about to go before she remembers something* Did you say that you knew Galinda? Should I tell her that you're here so she can come and say hello?
