"But that's what this stuff is for," she added, pointing with the foil towards the jackets and masks. "You put it on like this..." Tugging on her own jacket, she pointed out the fasteners.

"Anyway, the masks are to protect our faces, just in case..." She picked one up off the ground and awkwardly pulled it over her head. Her voice came out muffled from the other side of the screen, doubtful. "Like this... got it?" This felt really weird, though.

With a huff she pulled it off and tossed her long pink hair back, grinning. "We'll just be really careful, okay?"

She shifted into a sort of awkward, clumsy fencing pose: feet well apart, one facing towards Mokuba, the other to the side, foil pointed at him, back hand up. The basics were right, and Mokuba probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but it was pretty bad. "So kind of like this... got it?"

Of course, Utena didn't know any better either. "That's pretty good." She smiled, picking up on the uncertainty in his voice. "Don't worry, you're doing just fine, Mokuba. Here, just raise your arm up a little more..." She gestured to him, demonstrating.
"So you want to try to..." She blinked, voice trailing off. What was it, again? She thought she knew, but she also recalled something about cutting something off... "....umm, you want to try to hit my jacket, okay?" she told him, sounding very unsure. "Just the thick part, not the arms..."

Just to show him from the other side, she lifted the tip of her own foil and, very lightly, pushed it forward against Mokuba's jacket. "And the duel ends when one person gets the other." That was completely wrong, but it sounded right to her!

"Something to cut off..." she echoed him, murmuring, her eyes widening in surprise. She held up a hand to her chest, as if holding something there, and looked down. "Roses," she said, without knowing why.
Quickly, she shook her head and looked back up, trying to brush off the sudden rushing in her ears. "That's not a bad idea, but let's just do it this way, okay? Anyway, I'm pretty sure the idea is that you're supposed to hit hard enough to feel it..."
