Bree finds her way in her new house: open RP to anyone in Hufflepuff

Bree stood inside the entrance to Hufflepuff, holding a suitcase by her side. So, this was her new home. Well, it wasn’t as neat as she would have liked, but she could do something about that soon enough. Certainly the common room looked big enough for the introductory party she was planning out in her mind. Bree smiled about that, already ( Read more... )

Tommy looked up from the parchment he was staring at. He didn't know if he could help her, as he was new too, but he thought he should try anyway.

"What do you need help with?"

Bree smiled at the young man. Good to know that some people around here were helpful, at least.

"Well," she said, indicating her luggage. "I’m looking for a room."

"So am I," he replied, gesturing to some packages wrapped in brown paper. "I don't know where the rooms are yet, I'm sorry."

Bree eyed her companion’s packages.

"I see," she said primly. "Well, that is too bad. I suppose we will just have to keep looking, won’t we?," she added with a smile. "What’s you’re name, by the way?" she extended her hand. "Bree Van De Kamp."

Tommy stood up, the cloak covering his bare chest falling to the ground.

"I'm Tommy," he replied, shaking her hand with a smile. "I think the rooms are that way," he said poining vaguely behind him. "I've seen lot of people disappear up the stairs."

Bree was taken aback by Tommy’s attire, or lack thereof, and she let it show. "Well then, Tommy, how about we venture in that direction?" she suggested. "Perhaps you could find someplace to…ah…put a shirt on."

"I don't have any. They only sold robes in Hogsmead," Tommy said as he picked up his cloak and draped it over his shoulders. "I was on my way up there, but I was distracted..." he explained, picking up the parchment he had been studying.

He shrugged and gathered up the rest of his belongings.

"Ah, well, then, that’s understandable, I suppose," Bree said, regaining her composure and beginning to walk in the direction Tommy has pointed. "Though it begs the question of why you are here with only a cloak in the first place."

"Oh, the cloak isn't mine really," he replied following her. "I arrived here with only the jeans I'm wearing."

"Oh," Bree said with a small laugh. "I suppose that just makes you an exhibitionist, instead of a man with odd tastes in fashion. Or why is it that you had no shirt?"

"Well, I didn't really fancy wearing a shirt that was ripped and covered in blood..." Tommy trailed off. "Everything else I owned was destroyed," he said with a shrug.

Bree stopped short for a second. "I’m so sorry," she said, sincerely. "That’s awful." She didn’t ask why the shirt was covered in blood. That wasn’t the kind of detail to press with a stranger. If he told her, fine, but she also knew perfectly the decorum in letting such things slide under the table.

"I don't let it bother me," Tommy said with a smile. He looked up the stairs. "I think the rooms are up here."

Bree was sure Tommy’s blasé attitude was a lie, and an appropriate one, at that.

"Then up we go," Bree said cheerily. "Do you," she added after a pause, "know if we get our own rooms? Or do we have to have roommates?"

"I don't know," Tommy replied as he began to climb the stairs. "I'm sure we'll find out once we ariive up there. Would you rather a room on your own?"

Bree nodded. "I have certain standards of cleanliness and order that most roommates would interfere with," she explained. "What about yourself?"
