COMC Meet and Greet

((I'm running a bit behind, so the lecture will be up tomorrow. If your characters would be interested in getting a pet tribble, please have them show up before the first lecture. Pets will be given out at the end of class.Care of Magical Creatures was traditionally held outside, but heavy rains for the last two weeks had made the school grounds

Morfin came into the classroom, looking very worried. "Dr. Grant? Is it too late to add the class? I really want to add the class. I want to learn about taking care of the magical animals."

[catremistrae]

"No, it's not too late. Class will start in a few minutes, so why don't you just chat..." he looked around at the empty classroom. "Why don't you just grab a seat."

[mightymorfin]

"Okay!" Morfin replied happily. "I'll sit right here, in the very middle of the room! And anyone who comes in I will say hello to, and tell them I am Morfin and a Hufflepuff!"

"Great," Grant said, a little thrown by the enthusiasm. He went back to his diagrams.

Menolly stepped into the classroom with only Beauty in attendance. The firelizard had her golden tail curled tightly around Menolly's neck and was trying to hide in her long auburn hair.

She wasn't really succeeding.

"Excuse me, sir? But I was wondering if I might sit in on your class."

[catremistrae]

"Certainly," Grant said. He caught a glimpse of the animal behind Menolly's hair. "That is an amazing animal. Would you mind if I took a look at it? I'm sorry that I never got to finish talking to you at your Sorting."

She reached up to scratch along Beauty's back. "Her." She said automatically. Because while the fire-lizards weren't dragons, they did have personalities and Beauty's experience with the Professor would affect how the others reacted towards him as well.

"There aren't too many people around right now, but the class will fill up soon and then I'm not sure how calm she'll be. I'm trying to keep the others from coming into the classroom right now and causing a disruption."

She paused a moment and then smiled a touch shyly. "I suggested that for all the people who wanted eggs, maybe I could have a class for them and the hat said I should talk to you about coordinating something. You could meet all of them if we meet to discuss the class and you could help me figure out the little things I might not think of that people might want to know. Most people know how dragons work in my world and fire-lizards are very similar. But dragons here seem to be something totally different."

[catremistrae]

"I don't want to stress your animal. If you want to work something out later, please owl me. I have a tendency to forget things if I don't write them down. In the meantime, please take a seat or mingle for a bit. The class will be starting in a few minutes."

[nemofound]

"Hi, Dr. Grant!" exclaimed the small fish whose tank was being dragged into the classroom on a sled, under house-elf power. "I came, and so did Domino!"

"Hey, Nemo," Grant said. "It's nice to see you back to your fishy self."

[nemofound]

"Yeah, but Domino says he can make me a people and back again if I want to again sometimes, and it was fun, so maybe yeah, another time! And I said he has to ask FIRST. And he said okay."

[catremistrae]

"Well, that's good. Is Domino going to help you with this class? We'll be doing some hands-on work with the animals."

[nannynutter]

Agnes stumbles into the room, cheeks red and tears of laughter still running down her face. She schools her expression and walks over to the Professor.

"Excuse me, sir? Sorry I'm a little late, I was held up in Di-" Stifles more laughs "Vi-nation. Sorry, may I still join your class?"

[catremistrae]

"Are you okay?" he asked wondering what the source of amusement was. "The class hasn't started yet. Make yourself comfortable until I finish these drawings."

[nannynutter]

"Oh, I'm fine dea- I mean Professor. Ms Weasley and I were just entering the joys of Divination. Apparently I'm one of the greatest nuns." she laughs some more, whilst moving towards the desk. "Thank you very much, the class looks rather," looks at the hutch "interesting."

"I hope it will be."

[sensiblesusan]

Susan, passing in the hallway, hears the activity in the classroom and pokes her head in to see what's going on.

"Hello -- Dr Grant, is it? What have we here?" She glances curiously at the large hutch.

[catremistrae]

"Dr. Grant, yes. This is Care of Magical Creatures, and in there I've got the animals we're going to be looking at today. You're more than welcome to stay, if you want. At the end of lecture students are going to be assigned an animal to take care of."

[sensiblesusan]

"I'd like to observe, if I may. Thank you." Susan takes a seat at the back of the class.
