Crowley grinned wickedly as he set up the booth in the Great Hall. It looked something like this but the sign read:

KISS RYUUJI - ONE GALLEON
(no tongues)

Paul was grateful that the puppet at least seemed to be literate. What the puppet's eyes read on the sign needed a second reading, just to be certain, though.

"I notice that Puppet Ron isn't on the two-for-one list," he commented, lightly, studying Ron's face to see what effect the Ryuuji kissfest would have on his friend.

"Paul, shut up."

Terry blinked, re-read and couldn't help curling his fists, both of them. "Someone is using Ryuuji's body." He said in a fierce whisper. "Someone is using Ryuuji's body." He said again.

"Stop clenching me." The puppet body couldn't feel pain, but it was odd feeling his cloth form crumple. "Yes, someone is using Ryuuji's body, the way we're using Ron's body and, er, his puppet body. Only not everyone at this school is as considerate as we are. It's not surprising when you think about it. The question is, who's in Ryuuji's body, and how are we going to find out?"

Terry blinked and tried to release his fingers. The fact that they didn't want to made him concentrate a bit more and take some of the edge off his temper.

"You know magic. I don't. But I'm kind of wanting to a-word some balls and chains right now. All over this room."

Short of beating it out of them, and he'd enjoy that if it wasn't for the fact he'd be beating on Ryuuji's body, and the fact that Ron's body probably bruised like a peach, he was out of ideas.

"Magic isn't going to help anyone in this case. Consider this: Most of the people who are buying kisses from Ryuuji's body probably aren't in their own bodies either. It's all one massive act of mischief. Think about carnival." It was a memory of Old Earth, one he knew well enough not to need the memories within to consult. "They're wearing masks so they feel free to do things they wouldn't do in their own everyday selves."

"Fuck'em." Wearing a mask only made him even more himself. He was in no position to be sympathetic. "And those aren't masks."

He shifted backwards, against a wall, feeling very much like he needed to either say, very, very, loudly that that couldn't possibly be Ryuuji and was anyone even thinking about what they were doing. Or leaving, before he accidentally punched his friend in the jaw. The hand containing Paul didn't clench again out of sheer will. The other was was more than ready to slam into something and the look on Ron's face was likely one that on Ron's body frankly didn't belong.

Paul wished he had his body back. In his own body, he could have neutralized Terry, even if it meant restraining him by sheer force. In his own body, he could have read the strain in Terry's voice with most minute accuracy, calculated a response with soothing tonality. Instead, he had the puppet's squeaky voice and no neural system whatsoever.

All he could sense for certain was that someone was going to get hurt. Maybe a lot of people.

He decided at least he might be able to minimize the damage.

"Look. You've got skills. You could immobilize the Ryuuji-body to stop whoever's in it from doing more mischief, without actually really damaging the Ryuuji-body."

Imobalize. Terry could see the moves now, use of pressure points and soft organ blows that could do it. But his mind's eye saw himself, using both hands. And he only had to look down to remember he wasn't in his own body.

Still, he took a step forward before the hypocrisy of it hit him, then swore again. "I can't. I don't know how fast or strong this body is, and I can't risk hurting Ron because I had expectations he wasn't trained to meet. They don't have the right to do that Ryuuji. I don't have the right to involve Ron in a fight."

Still he had to do something, and kept walking.

He didn't reply, didn't speak again, not until he was close enough for the imposter with Ryuuji's face to hear him. Terry didn't look at whomever might be nearby, it might have been a crowd, it might only have been two or three people. He didn't know. He was focused on one person.

"So, how well are you pulling this thing off ? Personally, I can't believe anyone would really fall for it, even if in your regular body you're some kind of... professional. Cause for starters ? Ryuuji has more class than this."

Crowley smirked and pulled out a handful of gold coins. "Well, you're the first person to complain about it."

"This is wrong," says Paul, quietly. It carries rather less solemnity in the squeaky puppet voice than it would in his customary imperial tones. "I'm less a puppet than you're making Ryuuji be."

"Everyone else may have gone stupid for the day and can't see what's going on right before their eyes." Terry narrowed Ron's eyes.

"But. you. aren't. him."
