"Good thing I have you around. Otherwise I would have no idea what's going on in my head." He unconsciously wiped the place Fenrir touched, and then went back inside for more nails.
"I think I might have a better idea of my wolf side than you do. You don't maintain control like I do by locking a side of yourself away, or by not understanding it. But you don't have to be responsible for yourself, I guess."
"I'm not the one who made a man's life a whole lot worse that night."
But the blow stayed, because Fenrir was just repeating what Oz had been saying to himself since that night. "I transformed because of some... because of a power game we've been playing without me realizing it. It- Fine, I lept at the chance to fight you. And you're right, I could run away from that. If this wasn't probably one of the safest places in the world where I could make a mistake, I would.
"How could you help me? No offense, but I think we are two men whose philosophies greatly diverge."
"Well, he used much bigger words when he said that. And a globe."
He tilted his head. "But I didn't just accept that. I've been looking for various cures and methods. I'm not perfect at it yet... maybe that's why I'm staying around you. Practice."
He began to nail the fallen wood back onto the doorway.
"If you're the werewolf Al Capone, why are you staying around here where you have to take orders?"
"If a man-eating plant monster can get a job as a motivational speaker despite living in a pot, I think I'll be fine. If I ever wanted a 9 to 5, which I don't. I... don't really think that far ahead." He moved his bothersome finger to his teeth to chew out his splinter. Oz was a Muggle-born unregistered werewolf; in fact, he hadn't even heard much about registering and what wizarding life is like his kind. He hadn't asked around much.
"Just a question. Why the is he called the 'Dark' Lord? Because I've met a few of those, and they were never fun. And usually had an Oedipus complex like woah."
"And who died and made him boss? No, wait, let me guess... lotsa people," he said in a glib tone.
"And about money, I hear there's an opening for a substitute in Care of Magical Creatures." He pulled back to look at the wood, and made a satisfied nod. He picked up the spare hinge to work on the other door. "Or I'll go to Wolfsbane; thanks to you it seems to be free now. Or I'll go back to Tibet and labor for it. It's not a bad place. And the Labors of Oz might make a good arts film."
"...I wouldn't be a good teacher." And he also doesn't like the idea of working for someone who possibly beats off to Children's Hospital infomercials.
((Glad you liked. ^_^ But in order for him to have those thoughts of Fenrir, I must first have those thoughts of Fenrir. And my thoughts are in a very bad place right now. So squicked.))
Oz didn't want to turn down the job, to point to Fenrir that he was afraid of him in any way. "Right now a voice is screaming in my head to say 'no'. Wait, that's my voice."

Oz stropped and frowned. "That's worrisome." The young man wasn't the type to pick fights.

He's quiet for a moment. "What's the pay?"
