Self-RP in prose because it needed to be done

They ran into each other in the entrance hall, quite literally. Walden was coming in from his morning run and Narcissa had decided to go out for a walk. She would have hit the floor had it not been for his quick reflexes. With an apology, he set her upright and began checking for wounds.

"Walden. Walden," Narcissa laughed, "stop. I'm alright." She brushed herself off and looked over the man she considered to be an older brother.

Walden stood awkwardly for a moment, sweat staining his shirt. However, the awkwardness passed and soon he was smiling. "It's good to finally see you again, Narcissa."

"It's been hectic, yes." She smiled and cast a quick cleaning and odor spell over him, wrinkling her nose as she did so. "I don't know how you do that every day."

Shrugging, Walden held open the front door for her and they walked out onto the grounds. It was still very early and the sky was grey and overcast.

"I wanted to talk to you," Walden began, a bit nervously as they headed toward the Quidditch pitch.

"About what?"

There was a moment of silence that stretched between them, lasting until they reached the field and Walden stopped.

"It's about Lucius."

He looked at the ground, rubbing the back of his neck, clearly uncomfortable. Narcissa put a gentle hand on his arm and smiled.

"I know about you two. You've been having it off like rabbits since your fifth year."

Walden blushed, remembering what Lucius had said about Narcissa watching them at times.

"Well, yeah. That and... and how I feel. You see, Narcissa, I don't just want to bang - I mean, shit. Sorry!"

She laughed and took his arm, pulling him gently to the stands where they sat together. Walden tried again.

"I'm in love with him," he said quickly, and immediately looked away.

More silence followed and the sun slowly began to rise over the castle, casting the grey out. Brilliant rays of pink and orange shone through the clouds and the birds awoke, singing quietly before Narcissa replied.

"So am I."

Walden laughed uncomfortably. "If you want, I mean, I'll stay away. He said he feels the same way and I-"

He was silenced with a kiss on the cheek.

"Lucius needs us both. And he's going to need us even more soon," she said quietly, thinking of the talk she'd had with Tom regarding Draco. "I can't ask you to give him up anymore than I can ask him to give you up. Besides," she said, nudging him a little, "you're fun to have around."

"You mean that?"

Narcissa nodded, a smile touching her lips. "I like you, Walden. And I think you'll fit in with our little family just fine."

Relieved, Walden sat back, an arm around Narcissa's shoulders, and watched the sun rise.
