"A girl? Truly? Have you had some of Mello's chocolates then?" Yukimura said, coming up behind Kurama on silent tread, even though he wore geta today. The geta seemed out of place, though, with the rest of his outfit: jeans, a button-up flowered shirt in the best of Hawaiian traditions, and a red belt holding his sword at his side. "Or, is there something I should know?"

Kurama stared at Yukimura, unsure if he should go with his first response of 'don't be such an asshole' or wait until his brain caught up with what his eyes were seeing.

After a moment, he decided. "I've woken up in another world again. A world on the edge of insanity, where birthdays are also halloween, there are floating penises, and you are wearing that shirt." He rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands. "Or else I've gone crazy. And I don't know who the girl in question is, but at least the birthday balloons got it right. Sort of."

"It's a very nice shirt, isn't it?" Yukimura asked, purposely mistaking what Kurama was saying. He looked sidelong at the balloons then back at Kurama. "Even your ego isn't that big."

"It looks lovely on you," he said flatly. Then he glanced sidelong at the novelty balloons and grimaced. "I'll take that as a compliment; my ego's been deflated enough over the last few months anyway." He jerked his head in the direction of the massive cake, where the top tier was being cut into more palatable slices by an elf on a stepladder. "Might as well have some cake while you're here, I know A wouldn't let River hex it."

"Kuronue enjoys it," Yukimura said, glancing at the cake. He forbore to mention that River was mischievous enough to try and get around any supervision, if she took a mind to. "How have you been?" he asked, his tone settling into a more serious tone.

Kurama smiled a little at the mention of Kuronue, moreso the bat's love of gaudy things.

"Better," he replied, solemnly. "Kusuriyuri helped me to see what I hadn't wished to, and understand..." he gestured, at a loss for words, "everything, really. Who I am, what I have done, what I must do now. I've apologized to and thanked Kuronue, and," he smiled a little, "I'd like to thank you too. For your patience, to start with."

Yukimura tilted his head slightly, almost a bow. "As Kuronue reminded me, your peddler would say 'it is what is done.'" There was a subtle irony in his voice, quoting what he was sure Kurama had heard before. "And, you were one of the first friends I had here. You have been patient, in your way, with me."

"I think I took too many risks with that friendship," he admitted, "and that's where I'd like to apologize. And, despite it being what is done," he smiled a little, "I'd like to thank you as well for another thing. I know Kusuroyuri's work is helpful, but I don't think Kuronue would ever have healed so well if it weren't for you." He loved Kuronue, sure, and always would, but it was nothing compared to what Yukimura shared with him.

"Kuronue has a way of making himself important," Yukimura said, obvious fondness in his voice. "And, he has done much work with the peddler recently. I will have to talk to him later, to thank him." He hooked his thumbs over his belt. "I know it odd to some, but I am pleased that his relationship with you has improved."

"Some don't know how important a thing it is to be able to openly love someone," Kurama said, smiling. "As for thanking Kusuriyuri, I have the suspicious feeling he'll say something along the lines of 'It is what is done.'"

"Quite probably, yes he will," Yukimura agreed. "But, offering gratitude for how very much he has given is also what is done." He tilted his head a little. "I wouldn't know how to love selfishly, or rather, I wouldn't know it as love in myself, to contain someone. It would seem like imprisoning them."

Kurama's smiled softened. "I know he will appreciate it."

He sat quietly and thought about Yukimura's statement a moment. "I think I've only ever been selfishly in love before. I wanted Kuronue, so I hurt him, because I was too selfish to think of what he needed. With others, I manipulated them so much that eventually the love died." Thank the gods, Kusuriyuri wasn't the type to put up with that kind of bullshit. "I'm learning how to be unselfish, and I'm glad I can learn now, with Kusuriyuri, Kuronue, and you."

Yukimura blinked at the last. "With me?" he asked, a little surprised at the words. He laughed then. "As a friend, that is what they say, yes?"

"Yes," Kurama nodded, "as a dear friend. Though, I admit, if Kusuriyuri hadn't come along and unknowingly wrapped me around his little finger, I would certainly have been more active in pursuing you." He lifted an eyebrow slyly. "That's one thing I'll never fault Kuronue for; he has excellent taste."

"Ah, yes, I do recall we'd agreed to meet for a drink when we first met and it seems between my arrival and our drink, he had captured you. A pity on the timing," he laughed, flicking his hair over his shoulder. A wicked glint showed itself in his eye. "Though, I do have to say, I think, perhaps, I got the better deal, as they say."

"Oh, no doubt," Kurama said, holding up his hands. "After all, now you potentially get all three of us, not to mention your peripheral bedmates, you lucky soandso." He grinned as he said that, leaning one elbow on the table. "Even so, I can't find a way to be jealous."
